Imagine having one bitcoin. You sell that bitcoin at the current price(around 3800 USD). Bitcoin crashes again somewhere around Christmass and the price goes down to 1K USD. You buy 3.8 bitcoins with the dollars you got from the previous sale and you HODL. In 2019-2020 bitcoin recovers to 10K USD (or maybe reaches 20K ATH). You have made atleast 38K USD.  I know it's not guaranteed to happen,but hey,this is the Speculation forum,so why not speculate about this. I think that this is every crypto whale's trading plan for the next 2 years. |

Everyone seems to think they'll be able to scoop up coins at $1,000 or $1,500. That makes it seems less and less likely. I don't think we've seen the bottom quite yet, but bears are starting to get greedy with their targets. I still think $2,900 or so will be the lowest we go. |

Alternatively, you have 1 btc, you sell now and the price goes to 6k by Christmas. You don't buy back and cut your losses because you think the price will dip again. The price then continues to increase and goes to the previous ATH or higher. You've lost out on 17k+. There are two sides to this argument always and it's easy to neglect that. As for bitcoin going to 1k it's very unlikely to happen, there are too many strong support levels between the current price and 1k. If it did go to 1k it would probably signal that bitcoin was going to strugge and the price would fall further without some intervention. |

Buy now and sell after a year or two is not an investment plan but a gamble. There is no reason for the price to rise * this week * so we may see further declines. If you want to think rationally, you'll see how the market looks and what will happen in the coming days and then decide to buy, sell or wait longer. Personally, I expect to see stability or further declines in the coming days "a week or two" after which we will see a longer period of ups or downs. |

Your plan is one long string of assumptions that all depend on each other. It's like betting on the outcome of 10 football games when 1 is bonkers enough. Maybe a few people per year manage it. Everyone else falls by the wayside.
If you're that confident of a fall, and I certainly don't think there's much appetite for rising on the horizon, short it instead. You won't be left with nothing if your targets don't hit and you're too married to them to change your plan.

Buying at a cheap price is a feasible plan to make a profit, bitcoin will definitely make a leap again, and it will be a big profit. Buying now as an opportunity to change the future for the better.

First, How much was the price when you bought your 1BTC?
That is if the price dip to $1k, anything is possible though so you can speculate whichever you may want. That's free. There is a higher chance that BTC may not rise as quick as possible like it did last year. The alts may actually be a better investment. China had been speculating those list too.

What you are talking about is not a plan but just a dream running in your head. You didn't even have mentioned the necessary steps on how or why you would think this prices would come out. Sometimes your expectations must be aligned in the conditions of the market in order for it to become a reality but what you are doing is simply guessing numbers and dreaming of it happening in the future. Yes sure this is a speculation thread but I barely even count what you are saying as speculation, you simply have no basis with your numbers you are targeting.

Easy saying but very difficult to achieved that. I don't bitcoin will get to $20,000 in 2019 and it might not get to $1000 this year. Believe me that it will be difficult for you to buy bitcoin at $1,000 as you will be afraid that bitcoin is going to fall further. The best time to buy is now and not selling to buy low as you might be out of the equation. |

The only good thing about what you have stated is that I am more inclinded to think that we're very near the bottom. The more people believe we'll tank hard in the coming months, the more I am tempted to buy another load of coins right now. I'm actually very tempted to do so right now. How about keeping your Bitcoin, and doing some extra work or selling some stuff so that you can buy another some more Bitcoin. If you think the price will drop, then you can price average.

So what you're asking for an opinion about is whether to "buy the dip" and giving the advice to "buy low, sell high".
Sure, great plan IF bitcoin continues to fall and IF after it bottoms out it rebounds to the point where you can make a profit. Lots of traders do this; some make money, others don't. Ultimately since nobody knows where bitcoin is headed, this plan of yours is risky at best and there's no one on this forum or anywhere else who can tell you if it's a solid plan. If any of us had functioning crystal balls that could accurately foretell the price of bitcoin at any time in the future, it'd be a sure shot idea. Unfortunately none of us have those crystal balls, just a talent (or lack thereof) for figuring out what other traders might do in the future..
It's all guesswork. If you think that's what's going to happen in the bitcoin market, go for it. My advice would be not to sell anything right now and to just hold until the market rebounds.

I don't think so if Bitcoin will drag too much and hit the lower price at the 1k dollar or lower than that. Yes, your right we are free to speculate here since it is speculation board but make it sure that your speculation has a sense and supported with a strong reason why is that possible to happen. Well, the best thing to do now is purchase as much as you can in Bitcoin rather than selling your asset, because right at this moment for sure you won't find your profit.
