Anyone who is interested in long term holding must find other source of income to survive for years to come ,I'm fully into crypto which many called a bad idea but I have my way around it ,most times long term holding brings better profits only if you choose your altcoins more wisely because many altcoins won't be around for years to come

yes, it's a very good idea to hold your altcoins for a few years because I'm sure that over time the value of your coin holds bigger so I'm also sure that you earn more here.

Before the current rise of the market simply did not make sense to sell most altcoins because the price was very low. Altcoins are all different and among them there are many hopeless who can not make a profit. To keep all the coins in a row is not very reasonable.

keep hold is not the right choice anymore if the altcoin we invest is not in the top 10 CMC. there is a time we have to cut losses and take risks to trade because not all altcoins have a good future.

depending on your strategy, if you do have a source of income from other places and don't really need money in the near future you can save it for the long term. but in my opinion it's not very useful when pump / dump happens you can get a profit in a short time if you are reliable.
Looks like right attitude. The potential of some altcoins are unqestionable but it doesn't make sense to go all in with lifetime savings. The possibility of getting rich decreases every day, so better to keep risk management.

I have actually been patient with the altcoins in my portfolio. Most of them have gone below 90% of ICO price but I still believe that the coins will give me profit in as much as am still holding the coin.
Well, there are 2 ways to look at this. Some guys who set their stop loss at 10% or 20% of ICO price sold off and went back into BTC, in which case they would be very happy at today's price and tell everyone they're in profit. But yeah, if you truly believed in your coin and supported the ICO projects, then you just need to be patient and keep supporting it. Who knows what will happen? Time only can tell.

If the project has no future sell and buy into a decent project. This is all you can do to recover your loss without putting in more money.
I totally agree with you especially on this part. Some people think they will get some great profits from ALTs but it’s not that easy. It’s not a good thing to hold all the coins you have, i mean it’s just hard to find a decent and reliable altcoin to hold it for years.

Altcoins outside of top are pretty risky to hold for a few years. Only a top-coins with a biggest capitalization are reliable enough for a long-term holding.

Holding is important but I depends on the type of altcoin you are holding because some of these projects are in for very shot run, time and can really sent you village packing if you hold on for very long

If you haven't already sold your ALTs simply hold if your project is decent. If the project has no future sell and buy into a decent project. This is all you can do to recover your loss without putting in more money. It will probably take a couple of years to recover your loss!
Some ALTs will never recover from this crash!
It is an ugly situation!
Who hold altcoins from Dec'2018 already in good profit. But in USD Bitcoin price of most important alts is far from the peak so holding them now is still good strategy. Maybe next few month will be altcoins month

I think it is better to sell them off before a few years. Depends on what currency. If they stand the test of time then definitely hold them for years and sell bits off when you happy with the price. If you haven't already sold your ALTs simply hold if your project is decent. If the project has no future sell and buy into a decent project. This is all you can do to recover your loss without putting in more money. It will probably take a couple of years to recover your loss!

agree with your suggestion I hold the token that I have but the project is not potential for the future and lately the price of the token continues to decline maybe I will sell it and choose tokens with projects that really have the potential for the future

Yeah so true, if you are holding alts for long term and the project is decent (good with developments and updates, with a strong team and product), then the best you can do is not to sell cheap at dip. Hold for sometime and hopefully someday there will be a price spike. This particular scenario has occurred to me severally, whereby I even forget I'm holding some coins and delta or blockfolio gives me alert that the price is up. Let's learn to be patient with good projects.

An ugly situation indeed my brother for some altcoins which some have been holding since 2017 and if there is a way one can sell it then it will go far in reducing someone's loss but there is actually no market for them in any of the exchange you visit till today. And it will be a heavy Lost on me if I should sell my ethereum at this moment because I was holding ethereum right from when its was above a thousand dollars in the late 2017.

You need to find out about it, the project can develop or not so you understand what actions you should take. It takes patience, because it takes a long time to be able to benefit from Alt. as much as possible you hold the right time, which means you really benefit.

It is not what you can do, because there is a variety of different strategies and you can earn on each of them, it is up to you. I mean you don't need to follow stereotypes and hold for years. You have your unique path

Cryptocurrency is simply risky but also profitable at the same time given we invest in a good project. But of course, the possibility for failure is much higher especially in an unstable market. Currently the market has grown significantly better compared to past months. 2018 was a rough year. But it is a seesaw type of ride in any market. That's just how it works especially when there are huge entities manipulating the system. It's just a matter of right timing and having the skills to predict future events.

Altcoin in the top 100 is very feasible to maintain long-term because it has large daily transactions and is mostly traded on large exchangers. Many altcoins are basically shitcoin and are better sell it and convert it to bitcoin or top 100 altcoins

Some altcoins aren't worth to be holded. I would like to buy top 100 altcoins or better top 10, then you will earn for sure. Holding random shitcoin will get you nowhere
