I don't have any interest in a stupid little trollbox thing, though maybe it'd be cool to run and slightly integrate an end-to-end-encrypted real-time-chat server. Has anyone looked into Matrix?

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I don't see the need of it honestly. If people want to talk among themselves then they can just use private messages. If they want it encrypted then they can encrypt it themselves with PGP. I don't want this site to become one of these forums with flashy texts and stupid chatboxes which only hinder the information on the site and causes drama among users.

Chatboxes are a breeding ground for immaturity and drama because of the lack of thinking time people have. On this forum it normally takes people to discuss things a long time due to other things on the forum but I guarantee a chatbox would just lead to arguments. Especially because we have the trust system and everyone would be calling each other scammers it would literally be hell for the real users of the forum. I don't want this forum to become a playground.

Matrix is an interesting project and a unique take on chatting. I like that they aren't looking to make an exclusive app and are looking to make it as accessible as possible for everyone. I followed XMPP before as they had similar objectives but I just felt that they fall short. Seems that Matrix acknowledges this and is willing to take XMPPs shortcomings and improve on them.

Most forums have chatbox but bitcointalk doesn't.... What do you guys think, does this forum need a chatbox or not? In my opinion it would make things much cooler  Cool
You may have noticed the button PM. That is a chat box. Every member account has it and it is the channel to chat with any member you wish to. Kindly utilize the PM button it is bitcointalk's style of a chatbox. IMO!  Tongue

I think bitcointalk forum open  a new discord channel  then it's very useful for new member.
They chat easily high rank member and high rank member helps new member for different question.

No need for it, it would just be  redundant because we are doing it  here already in this forum, it will just add more clutters  here.  Anyway if you need more informations or questions regarding Bitcoin or this forum, you can  read or research it from other sources, so as not to add more works for the people here.  Mostly FAQ are already answered just researched it, that way, along the way, you will learn more about Bitcoin and crytocurrency in general.

You must probably be getting something twisted

It's bitcointalk forum not bitcointalk chat

This is not a dating site or the rest of them...

And beside on everyone profile there is an option to message them although some has restrictions to those who can message them.

Or better still drop your issue as a topic and you would get reply
