Well I have checked all the main Ethereum sources such as

And there is nothing about an ETH hack or a mining hack, maybe you were misinformed.

ETH did suffer a few hacks but it wasn't related to mining, such as the DAO hack which created ETC.

If someone hacked the code then he will hide out it as much time as possible. It is similar to new ASICs. They use modern ASICs few months and only when profitability drops, began to sell them.
