Hi all,

I had the need to get a notification when my Bitcoin transactions get included into blocks and couldn't find any easy way, so I created this service:
https://bitcoin-alerts.live/

You just enter the transaction hash and an email address and you'll get email notifications when these events happen.

I'd be happy to hear your feedback!

Used a throw away address.  If I ever receive ANY email on that address, we will know the OP is a scammer.

Saying that, it would be nice if you could make a URL to enter the information so we don't have to type in a form.

Something like:   https://bitcoin-alerts.live/notify.aspx?hash=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&email=yyyyyyyyyyyy

Sure, you would lose your advertising on the form, but you could send an advertisement in the one time email you send.

That's not a bad project. Really thought out of the box there. However, the project should be enhanced with features like allowing multiple transaction hashes to put as an input. You obviously are gonna get a lot of legit email addresses which you can fuck-over however you want to. So maybe a policy that guarantees the privacy of our email should be followed. I don't mind refreshing a block explorer multiple times rather than having my personal email to be spammed by the marketing services.

Beside the problem of giving away your mail (and possibly addresses you own), which allows to come up with quite specific scam techniques, can be rather usefull  Smiley

Thanks for the feedback! The URL with predifined parameters is a good idea. I'll do it.
About advertisement, there is currently no (neither on the page or in the email).
I built the service so that it is as cheap as possible, and with current traffic, the only thing I pay for is the domain name.

I think you really put him in trouble. I think he saves email adresses, just think, not surely claim. Op getting email notification on tx transaction isn't something unique, I think it would be better if you improve it and offer us tx notification on sms instead of email. Also will be better if I am able to choose notification on specific number of confirmations, for example to receive notification once transaction gets 3 or 6 confirm.

Thanks for all your feedback, it's really appreciated!
The advantage of email is that:
- it's universal
- it's (almost) free to send and receive
- you can setup notifications as you like, to get close to real-time alerts

But I understand that some people would prefer not giving away their email address. And I think that SMS would be worse (would you be fine in giving away your phone number on some random website?).
One solution I imagined was to take advantage of Web Push Notifications (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Push_API).
It's almost universal (all modern desktop browser support it, FF and Chrome on Android too, only Safari on iOS doesn't). The advantage over email is that it's anonymous.
What do you think about it?

Web Push notifications are not anonymous. One explicitly allows permissions for the website to send them notifications. It's not a bad idea as compared to email but a better approach probably would be a chrome extension (with code open sourced of course). It would be much handy for a lot of users without the need for a subscriber based notification service.

Web push as Joel says is still not exactly private but it's the far better option for me.

Why not just use blockchair.com explorer? Enter the tx ID, and then toggle the "notify me when confirmed" option just next to the Status. Only thing is you have to keep the tab active but you can even minimise it as a new window. Works perfectly and in real time, and no need to sign up for anything.

I am going to test this service out, lets see how it works

Edit: I tested it and it notified me immediately as the transaction got 1 confirmation. Seems nice and is handy.

This is a good one as long as there are no spam emails coming to my email I will bookmark and use this service, I'm glad you created one for the community, sometimes it takes hours to get your transactions fully confirmed and you need to go back again and again to the explorer to check.

nice project, Push notifications is a good idea though. possibly sign up using username/pass so no email needed and user can then insert api key from some service such as https://pushover.net/ or https://www.pushbullet.com/.

Nice project, I could have done with this in the past and will possibly do in the future.
Another simple option is to setup a gmail account for notifications. Notifysatoshi @ gmail.com
