v0.8.6-17-g912b240-beta wallet doesnt sync behind block 20000 ....

deleted blockchain --- redownloaded walet from hicoin.org ...

whats wrong ...

If bitcoinmining riggs could buy miningriggs with bitcoin by themselves wouldnt that be asexual reproduction ? So wouldnt that make BTC a lifeform ?

So here's a question. Well, two.

A) Why is the difficulty 1,000 times higher than the last time I checked it (a day or two ago)

and

B) Why has the number of blocks until the next difficulty not changed in the same period of time?

As i remember dev was changing coin difficulty calc at 20000 ... new wallet and all but since then coin stuck at 20005

https://twitter.com/Hawaiicoin/status/464270176524173312

Quote
HIC update:  rediff target to 1 at block 20,000 (we are at 19,000). Added seed nodes in wallet (no need for conf file for first time users).

But dev no statement - best case scenario .. dev working on fix ... worst case ... coin dead..

If bitcoinmining riggs could buy miningriggs with bitcoin by themselves wouldnt that be asexual reproduction ? So wouldnt that make BTC a lifeform ?

Coin is not dead. Dev is looking at why big jumps in diff . At 20001 Diff adjusted from 2 to 8, 35, 147, 613 and now 2556. now stuck at high diff. Don't panic, HIC will live on. Give some time, dev is working on it.

both versions of wallets  v0.8.6-17-g912b240-beta and v0.8.6.0-unk-beta dont sync post block 20000 ... and the downloadlinks here are not consisten ...

what version is working then ... or do we have to wait till the new wallet to use the coin ...

anyone else having that problem ?

Guys, don't panic over the problem.  I'm sure the team is working on it as fast as they can.

The coin has had a few teething problems before and they've always taken care of them and then posted an update here after they were done fixing the issue.

seems like the sourcecode is beeing worked on ...

https://github.com/hawaiicoin/hawaiicoin/commit/577aececc7f28d754e05151523b56db0bb0c9e14#diff-25d902c24283ab8cfbac54dfa101ad31

so dev should make official timeline for fix etc ...

beeing open about shit gone wrong / problems is the only sane way to handle a trust crisis ... well if you want to continue a coin ...

so basicly good news ... dev is working of fix.

But he should say so .. ^^

If bitcoinmining riggs could buy miningriggs with bitcoin by themselves wouldnt that be asexual reproduction ? So wouldnt that make BTC a lifeform ?

I was thinking the same thing about Hawaii's ties to gambling...hmmm...

The one decent BTC sports gambling site I saw thats currently up and running has a monthly membership fee... There's got to be better ways to incorporate coin gambling into sports, and there's still a lotta room for new business.

Maybe we can incorporate some Counterparty or NXT-like system where you can place wagers on football games (and women's volleyball, why not) in a decentralized fashion.. Generation of tokens that are cashable in HawaiiCoin. But then you also have to teach everybody how to use Counterparty... Unless you can streamline it all through a snappy website, which I think is possible.

Then there's the whole legality issue. While the feds have been taking a lax stance towards internet gambling in general recently, there stands a chance that wagering on college football with Hawaiicoins will be considered real gambling at some point. Its gonna be really, really tough for the legislators here (or anywhere for that matter) to nail down the specifics of the law so I don't see it as a real concern for a couple years at least.

I also heard HawaiiCoin got a shout out on the radio the other day, during a segment when the DJs were talking about cryptocurrencies for some reason. Big ups!

PS -- hope the fix is going well!!

Our fellow HICers,

We are sorry for the inconvenience that the shift to rediff at block 20k has caused us all.  I am here to assure you we are working on a solution as fast as we can.  We've been looking into the issue and at this time do not have an ETA on a fix.  Yes, the blockchain is stuck at height 20,005 with a diff of 2,500 and it hurts...We've been cranking away for 4 days now trying to release that block.

Stay tuned for updates.  We assure you...WE WILL NOT LET THE COIN OR BLOCKCHAIN OR ANY OF YOUR HARD WORK (AND ELECTRICITY) GO TO WASTE!!!

Everyone please update your wallet immediately by going to hicoin.org and clicking on your choice of OS wallet.
We think we've fixed it.

Confirmed. Up to date at block 20009.  Smiley

Congrats & job well done.

Also, this coin developer / entrepreneur Devon Read said on David Seaman's most recent podcast that he thinks there is a demand in Hawaii for its own currency... I haven't heard much about this to be honest, but I am not exactly in the know when it comes to the latest in the sovereignty movement.

Hmm... I did a transaction last night to test things out and the funds never made it to my new wallet.

Here are the deets:

from: 136Ua7hP4YF7y8B91Ndw8q1eAp9Mo2JvJF
to: 15esL3CNkTVz65HRaTiZ5nVeQWG6ejYwjk
TxId: 377e8cc12de085eaa33dc381e86271e944651a3ecede3123326e89b980f7b06d

I am using wallet v0.8.6-17-g912b240-beta

Can someone else try a (small) transaction and see if it goes through? Bittrex says the funds were transferred successfully.

Thanks
