I'm a member of the MetaCode.world team. I'm new here on BCT and since I've arrived I've had my eyes opened to some startling realities.

Before I get into that though, a little background is in order. Our team began development some time ago with new technology for secure file storage and management built using block chain to communicate securely via smart readers that can identify coded transactions using ERC20 tokens to handle data at arms length on a distributed network. We soon realised that we had (pretty much by accident) created an architecture that would be incredibly useful in the area of file sharing.

So, since the system uses ERC20 tokens to operate we started to look into the possibility of offering our own dedicated token to the world ahead of the beta launch. And we began the upward curve of learning about ICO's. On the face of it, things looked good. A great product with huge potential. Really, to our minds it's the sort of thing that block chain tech should and could be used for. And we are very proud to be a part of the evolution of Satoshi's algorithm.

Marketing exerts? Nope. Just humble techies with a dream. But surely like minded people who are enthusiastic about crypto would understand what we have and how special it is. So no hard sell, no polished pitches. Just a down to Earth description. And a very reasonable offer that aims to share the opportunity, while raising some much needed capital for the next leg of the journey. That is after all, what an ICO is supposed to be, right?

But who knew that we needed a marketing fund to raise marketing funds? But it seems that is the case. We look around and see ICO's pitching all sorts of nonsense that claim to solve everything from the world energy crisis to curing blindness. Gambling platforms and XXX with no relation to or need for block chain. All with BTC paid sigs and glossy promo's in neon lights.

Could it be that many of these are teams that see ICO's as the opportunity, rather that a legitimate means of sharing the "opportunity" behind them? I suspect that much of what is pitched is really hot air and empty promises. But it is blasted out at high volume like the trumpet call to free money. Well funded, and slick. Like snake oil salesmen, who will just move on after they get your support.

Meanwhile, underfunded startups with real purpose and genuine potential are drown out by the bright lights and deafening blare of the seedy and greedy.

The real shoestring projects seem to get shoved aside and ignored. We accept that we were very naive when it came to the culture of crypto ICO's. Our mistake. But we have learned from that. In hindsight though we should have known that psychology, not technology is the deterministic factor at play here.

The "others" have sharpened their approach to manipulating the broad community to a fine art. They truly are the Pied pipers of herd mentality.

But why should the BCT community be led by the nose? They, YOU! ARE the LEADERS. But only if you chose to be. Do you realise the colossal power of influence that you collectively wield? You can make or break a project with the click of a mouse.

Do you think Satoshi had sports gambling or porn in mind when he/she created the algorithm? I seriously doubt it. Fame? No way! Can you imagine the nice Colombian necktie he would have got for Christmas from the federal reserve? Satoshi had created something new and groundbreaking. Something that can and should change the world as we know it. It IS the foundation for new innovative technology and human participation in the world of distributed power.

Are we, (YOU), going to be manipulated by the greedy that have no respect for you? Or will you, as a collective community chose to assert your influence and power toward genuine projects that need your attention and bring REAL lasting opportunity that Satoshi and all of us can be proud of?

This is a free market and as much as we have whales manipulating the market in a fraudulent way we can't go anything about it for now so we can either swim with them or get out of the market. If collectively assert our influence then I think we can call that centralization, a total opposite on what Satoshi has envisioned.

Here is a great example of what bitcointalk is all about ^^.  It's a free market, he says, but whales are manipulating it, and meanwhile that has nothing to do with what OP was writing about.  This is signature campaign shitposting at its finest.

OP, the ICO market is nothing more than a bunch of suckers trying to get rich and scammers trying to sell them snake oil, like you said.  And I agree that people are making outlandish claims about blockchain tech's ability to solve problems.  However, if you have a real idea that could work, go for it.  The experts here, and not the stupid 3rd world idiots who are only trying to make a quick buck, will see the value in it.  Yes, there is a huge element of marketing involved, but that's something any business person should know.  That should come as no surprise to you.  The problem is that if you try to start a legitimate ICO on this forum, you're going to get out-competed by the dishonest motherfuckers who employ spammers to bump their ANN threads, for example.

Maybe someone else has better advice for you, but this forum is a cesspool of ignorance and greed and I don't think it's the best place (right now) to get investors or to promote an ICO.  It's like the smooth-talking hustlers have run off all the legitimate projects.  I don't think Satoshi would have minded if people ditched this forum if it became this bad.  Evolution has to happen eventually.

OP, your promotion does not belong on the Meta board, even though your project name contains "Meta." Although your post touches on all of the ICO signature campaigns on here, it is clear that the purpose of mentioning this is to knock your competition and promote your project, rather than opening a thread to discuss this as a problem and coming up with solutions. I have already reported this to the moderators, requesting they move this thread to the appropriate altcoin board. Please save the moderators the work and move your thread now. It is not welcome here in Meta.

You are right that the scams have pushed out the good projects, or have just made the good projects look like just another scam. They make all crypto look like a scam to most people.

But what do you propose to do about it?
People here are busting scams left and right but their are just too many and many of them are undetectable until it's too late.

Actually, only a handful or less actually offer BTC payments for promoters of their ICO.
Most if the BTC bounties you may come across are not ICOs, but projects and some have lasted for several months to years.

The common idea is to offer your token generated as a a reward for bounty for when you do go on exchange. This costs you nothing as you just have to create a little more tokens.

Welcome to the real world!

I've been saying this for a very long time now: all ICO-websites look the same, same structure, same flashy animations, same pictures of a dozen nerds and 2 girls, and the same empty promises.

Admin (theymos) likes giving users the freedom to post almost anything. One of the drawbacks is the current inflow of ICO-spam. But it's isolated to certain boards, and many community members ignore those.

But then again, you already know all this. You created a nice story about how you're different than all the other spammers/scammers, because unlike them, your system is really going to change the world! Now back to reality: you're exactly the same:
$1MILLION$ REWARD!!!

Major Rewards $4,500,000.
Nobody in their right mind would pay millions of dollars of real money for spamming social media.
