What is CryptoTycoon

CryptoTycoon is an insane mix of massive multiplayer role playing tycoon and eco strategy. Sounds fun already? That's not all there is! It's the ultimate blockchain and crypto simulation and a very diverse and challenging game. Everyone will find their own playstyle there.

Join the Crowdsale! Help us bring an awesome game to life!

What is a "crowdsale"?
It's a traditional crowdfunding campaign to bring a great project to life. The only difference is that you fund it with ETH, not with fiat. This is not an ICO. You are not an investor. Our CTY token is a minted token, it will not be listed on any exchange. You will get rewards proportional to the funded amount, and those will require you to play the actual game (you will not be able to sell your rewards immediately to become rich IRL).

How to join
1) Go to CryptoTycoon Official Website
2) Click "Join Crowdsale" button

Weekly Update

Blockchain Auction

Blockchain Marketplace (Auction) is the foundation of the open, transparent and community-driven CryptoTycoon economics. The Auction sets the prices for pretty much everything that the game has: components, parts, blueprints, inventions and rigs themselves.

The Auction is community-driven, which means everything that is for sale there comes either from us or the community. We will set the initial action, but this will not go any further than that. The actual supply and demand relationship will be up to you, the players.

There are two ways to get involved with the Auction. You either Purchase/Sell the items there, or you Make Offer and trade the items in exchange for the tokens you mined with your rig, or exchanging items that you have at your disposal. It's a Sell or Trade kind of thing.

The Marketplace works on Ethereum Blockchain, all transactions are on-chain, all items are valued in Ethereum. Buyers/sellers pay a small fee in ETH for every deal they make, except for the direct trades (fees don't apply).

Every item comes with lots of details to study and even a trend graph to analyze how valuable a particular item is. Since all items need to be produced using their Blueprints (or even invented first), the supply is limited. Should the demand increase, that'd be coupled by an instant increase in price and item scarcity. You can play the long game by accumulating items that you believe could rise in value, and this is the Supplier (Hustler) gameplay.

Barracuda Protocol

Modern client-server games demand exceptional network response. They don't rely on TCP due to performance issues, instead they rely on UDP. We needed something even better for our Massive Multiplayer games, and that's how Barracuda Protocol (Protocol) was born.

Barracuda Protocol is an encrypted layer on top of UDP. The Protocol uses its own Datagram structure—with fully customizable I/O—and it makes server and network development much easier.

The Protocol stores active connections with a few viable parameters: an id, end-point, last request and the end-point latency. A Datagram provides a connection identifier. Barracuda Protocol then locates the identified active connection and sends the Datagram there.

The Protocol is capable of reading Datagrams asynchronously and writing to its own Barracuda Buffer (Buffer), the size of which is defined in the Protocol configuration. The Buffer stores the timestamp and the request owner id and waits for the request to be executed. The Protocol has a native getter for incoming requests and a function to confirm the requests execution. Any request that has not been executed is kept at the Buffer and tried by the server till processed. That's how the Buffer eliminates packet losses on high-load applications.

Barracuda Protocol uses both synchronous and asynchronous methods. That allows firing up Protocol functions in parallel threads non-dependent on each other. The Protocol uses a fully customizable on-board asynchronous KA (keep-alive). User authentication is confirmed by a unique User Key.

Finally, the Protocol uses AES encryption to protect your data.

Barracuda Protocol is a reliable high performance protocol designed to run demanding multiplayer games. And the beauty of it, is that it comes with user data protection in mind.

We hope you enjoyed this update. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas! See you next week!

Weekly Update

Only two days left and it's New Year all over the world! I'd like this weekly update feel special, since it's the last one for the year 2018.

Let's start with non-original - it all starts with an idea. Why? Well, because it really almost always does.

CryptoTycoon was supposed to be a straight-up clone of GameDevTycoon, Blockchain Tycoon and, basically, every other camp-like tycoon game out there. One of our devs is a heavy tech-geek, so when he pitched me the initial idea the space looked like this:

I could say it was inspiring, but that'd be a big stretch. Mountain big.

Going further these were a few components (GPUs, Motherboard and a GPUs cluster):

And the game-design was just about building a rig, lots of mining components raw specs, mining & trading tokens and that was pretty much it. Not much, huh? Even though the presentation was poor, you can recognize the potential and a nice idea for the game itself. And so thought I.

So after a month passed and with some heavy-lifting of us working day and night, we could bring the CryptoTycoon concept to the public and it certainly looked very different from the initial pitch:

===
Don't believe the screenshot, watch the video!
===

You could recognize it being graphically inspired by Deux Ex: Human Revolution hacking mini-game. Not a direct copy, but the resemblance is there (big Deus Ex fan here). Mesmerizing music was composed exclusively for us. And the game-design itself changed almost entirely. Follow me to see how exactly we tweaked and revamped it all.

Game Design

We introduced the Tycoons, your playable avatars each with their own special bonus. Then we designed characters-based and common Skill Trees. That added an element of RPG and should deliver more than enough replay-ability even to the most demanding players out there:

Then we introduced the Corporations (groups of Clusters, basically "a group of groups") and then the Alliances. The former added a lot of game content for mid- and high-level gameplay: manufacturing, trading, inventing, working on corp blueprints. And the latter added major competitive gameplay - CryptoTycoon can be a Game Of Thrones a times. That is our MMO/RTS element right there.

Finally, we decided to make the game economics, marketplace and trading overall a transparent (and non-intrusive from our side) experience. For that we needed a blockchain that would store the game states (the game history), be immutable and trustworthy and provide the unparalleled market/rules/game transparency to the players. The blockchain part went far further the immutable ledger, though. The server side code emulates it, the network built to provide a decentralized performance - we went every step further from by-the-book and every inch closer building our ideal MMO game network code.

So, yeah, the initial idea and concept grew pretty... big. Both visually and technically. Both design-wise and logic-wise. It's no longer some indie small-time gig. It's a concept with all the potential to grow itself into one of the greatest games out there.

Honestly, that's a kind of game we just don't have the budget for right now, but a kind of game we so much want to build and enjoy with every one of you. That's why we're running a CryptoTycoon Crowdsale.

Just 2 weeks left till the end of Early Crowd! Make it count. Join at cryptotycoon.to. Let's build this game together!
