I'm saying this because it is real. Just imagine, Ethereum has built many tokens inside the blockchain and many people launched ICOs which most of them are totally weird and fake, but some of them are not. People usually like to trade their ethereum and turn it into a token where it can be determined as a "future asset" and it cannot be sold until they had listed on an exchange. The companies who launched the ICOs are usually selling the ethereum which gotten from their ICO in droves, in which it can make a dump on the Ethereum market.

I wouldn't say that ETH is the cause of this bear market. It is true what you are saying, companies that collected ETH during their ICO have to exchange some for fiat to cover their expenses, but that is not the reason why BTC and everything else fell so much. There are several theories out there why we are not seeing new all time highs, I tend to agree with those saying that we are witnessing serious manipulation, so that big money (institutional) can buy into crypto on low price levels.

Yes we have recently seen this situation where most of the icos sold or cashed out large amounts of eth causing crash in the value of eth but now all these sellers seem to have been cleared and we can expect nice trend reversal from here onwards also do not forget about the big upgrades coming next month for eth.

Why would the blame goes to Ehereum LOL. Pumping and dumping is a part of the game. If you are blamed to anyone then blame the whales. We are waiting for another bull run soon and then all these FUDs will disappear again. Let the FOMO begum!

I think your topic should have been ICOs are the cause of the dump of Ethereum market. While what you said is true about ICOs dumping, I do not believe it can bring down the entire market. I'm sure you have not forgotten about the dominance of Bitcoin.

Well, ICO campaigns do not sell all the Ethereum at once. they usually only sell when they need money for development .

How do you know all the projects are serving Ethereum ?) I agree in this logic is, but at the moment I think those projects that have sold will actively buy it.

This is a wrong assumption. When the crypto market was bullish and ethereum went as high as $1,300, was ethereum also responsible for that? Are other cryptocurrencies, such as, bitcoin, litecoin and so on, not collected during ICO as means of investment? Are there no other platforms that also host ICO tokens? Why then would you conclude that ethereum is responsible for the dump on market?

Yes you may be right but if you think like that while a ico is ending, other ico starts so there is always a circulation for Etherum. Also Ethereum has a big society who support and believe it. Just this can keep Ethereum in market for a long time.

We cannot pin point ethereum to be the cause for the downfall of the market. To my knowledge majority of the altcoins and tokens were developed over the ethereum smart contract platform. Upon this, the impact on ethereum will get reflected over the entire cryptocurrency network. This is what happening and possibly the recovery will be taking place soon.

Can we tell that BCH was the reason of November dump in the market? Why we will tell that ETH is now the reason? it is the people who are dumping the market. They are the one or we who gives demand to go up the price or sell low to dump the market.

That's part of the reason for dumps, it's not only ETH. Many ICOs accepted funds in BTC, XRP and even other currencies. With the ICO bubble these funds were eventually going to be freed up ready to dump hard on the market.

I would say that the reason of the bear market right now is the lack of trust that the investors of the pump last 2017 have right now specially the investors that thought that cryptocurrency is a quick way to get rich. So what just happened is just a chain of events and what we are experiencing right now is the result of it.

I agree with the thread title, not so much the content. Ethereum was the reason for the unsubstantiated rise in crypto prices because of ICO-s. Since it was a bubble - now it has popped. If it wasn't for Ether, I doubt we'd see better prices though.

You need to do some research in order to know that not all ICOs use the platform of ethereum. Moreover, you cannot put the blame on ethereum, because it is only serving as a tool or platform that accommodates others and not a means for dump. The bear market can be attributed to so many factors, which are not only associated with ICO scams, but also the hacking of of exchanges and carting away of fund and other related factors.

I do not agree or concur that Ethereum is why there is a dump in the market Whatever goes up must come down
And that was what happened to crypto currency The bubble has burst and now reality’s has set it
The next bull run will be real and long lasting

Bitcoin also has fallen, but it is ahead of ethereum, so is it not applicable if you say that ethereum should be held responsible. Had it been you analogy is correct, then btc would have remained so high, but the problem or challenge is beyond eth having so many tokens on its platform. Therefore, in my opinion, eth is innocent. Although it might have contributed to it, which i cannot also ascertain, but it is not the cause.

May be but in other way Ethereum and ICO boom was one of the main reasons why market grew in 2017, so if there weren't icos, may be we would never see bitcoin above 3000.

Why would Ethereum cause a drop in BTC? BTC can drop Ether's price, because even today most ethers are bought with BTC, which is the coin to trade other coins with. But I don't think Ethereum has that much power...

Yes, ethereum has definitely affected the market negatively. But it is not the only reason.
I would say, the main reason is right in front of everyone's eyes: last bull run was too high too fast and totally unstable. In simple laws of economics, supply shot way past demand and the entire year has been collapse.
Another thing that contributed to our current state, is the stock market crashing about a month ago. We like to think that crypto is seperate from traditional markets, but that just isn't the case. In fact, crypto is very much integrated into traditional portfolios, especially with btc futures.
erh does affect the market but not as much as btc does.
