and the gear is now making 16 a day


so 480 a month - 160 = 320 a month  that is a 23 month break even number.

a suggestion to vosk  to be fair you need to mention power cost.

if you have 5 cent power this costs about 160 a month to run
if you have 10 cent power this costs about 320 a month to run
if you have 15 cent power this costs about 480 a month to run.

if it earns 25 a day that is 750 a month minus power
if it earns 20 a day that is 600 a month minus power
if it earns 15 a day that is 450 a month minus power

To me if I had  5 cent power I would buy 4 used s9i's for the 1100  gives me  55th using 5 kwatts
power cost = 180 a month I earn 336 with the 55th I net 156 a month I am breakeven in 7 months vs 23 months.

and I spent 1100 not 7300

What I liked the most about SP gear is the military grade build quality when you compare it to say an Bitmain product. Really hope to see these guys make gear say for SHA256 again or maybe for ETH Dash.

I picked them up for less than that Phillip plus buying S9 is not a good option in my opinion because there is already a replacement for them and they are on a massive decline. If anything and you might think i'm crazy here, but buy a ton of L3+ and really take a gamble on the future.

I think these machines will pay back quicker when crypto recovers.  These will own the Dash market as nothing comes close to them and I don't think anyone is making ANYTHING right now.  So in essence it's  batch 1. It's a bit of a flyer but gotta take a risk.  I really never liked dash and I am thinking of running it on a pool that converts it automatically to eth or btc.  Not decided yet.

Agreed I wanted to talk about numbers w/o power cost and then w/ an estimated power cost but when shooting I forgot to shoot that part so I just ran with the footage I had

profitability has been holding up well on this, which is cool to see at a minimum -- also no downtime on the unit / issues

My concern for this device is

1) the price. The breakeven period is complete no-go. And given same breakeven periods, I will go with GPU and FPGAs as they are safer bets.
2) the fact that X11 is probably the 7nm chip after SHA256 and Scrypt.

On the bright side, it is still double the efficiency of the antminer D5 despite both of them being 16nm. So bitmain couldn't just shrink it and beat the efficiency by much. Similar to the S15/T15 on 7nm, vs Whatsminer M10 on 16nm.

This thing is a typical Spondoolies design.  It's a tank.  No maintenance set and forget.  I have 2.  Great boxes!

$11,000 for $1,000 a month it would take 11 months to break even if your profit stays the same.  Chances seem pretty low it will keep earning 1k a month.
