Is anyone else not fooled by this Coinbase 12 days thing?

You shouldn't be mad at a company or individual donating money, but you kinda have to be annoyed with Coinbase making a $10k donation and then essentially bragging about it. Coinbase is evaluated at over a billion and they are making some bad mistakes.

Now this stunt: https://cointelegraph.com/news/coinbase-launches-program-to-educate-users-about-crypto-beyond-bitcoin

0x coins are pretty worthless, even if your an investor you really can't argue its liquidity to Ethereum or bitcoin.

Everything is just becoming a marketing stunt, and nothing is really being built by a lot of cryptocurrency companies. I think they are forgetting core values.

the way i see it. if new to crypto they pull you in with "lessons that pay" but require you to signup to their 'pro' exchange to claim the prize

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

I am still surprised no one has come up with a good educational site.

I dont's see any problem in that situation. You can try to claim or not. That's your choice.

Priorite is marketing of course, without benefit no one cares on your knowledge. This way coinbase becomes good, something that give you an knowledge and rewarded for it and that'd maybe a little bit psichologycal emotion to keep you with coinbase, possibly this idea too.
On another hand, if someone will only learn for some bucks, that's not a good idea too. Wish of study has to come from you, not from other's push.
Edit:
This is what I liked the most from that article:
Quote
This summer, a group of Oxford University professors advanced with plans to not only educate the public about blockchain, but to use the technology as the very basis of a higher education institution.

There were quite a few good educational sites back in 2014 that I happened to frequent on and one of them is CoinLearn. I don't know if it still exists but on that site, you get to chat with other 'learners' discussing things about bitcoin and crypto in general while also being rewarded just for being active. For me, you don't really have to pay for these lessons, or seek for 'lessons that pay' if you really want to know about crypto. A simple research IMO is already sufficient to enrich one's knowledge without the false promise of getting something in return. These promotions are just like free trials that asks for your credit card that will bill you once the free trial is expired.

i think education itself needs a big overhaul.
EG
take universities. you pay multiple thousands to sit in a theatre designed room to listen to a guy ramble on.
if only universities were more like youtube(but more organised) where lecturers record their lessons. and users can select which lecturer out of multiple lecturers to learn from. and ofcourse the more popular lecturers that actually teach something worthy of learning get the most upvotes/views=best pay.

yep someone can if they want. make a site that links the best videos that teach people about bitcoin in the best ways. and even categorise it to be in a ELI-5(for dummies) lesson, all the way up to technical.

monetise it, make it free or even offer a education 'credit'(token) for watching it.. whatever.
atleast variety of teach styles/levels would be better than the "one way" method of learning thats been the same old archaic education system for centuries

I have always thought about making a cryptocurrency educational site with video lectures and then offering it super cheap like $10/m. Have hundreds of hours of lectures and make it something really beneficial to the community. Talk not only about crypto but business in general because some financial knowledge is good to have before learning the business side of crypto. There is so much to talk about. Plus there are so many shitty products.

This is an indicator of the correct integration of cryptocurrency! I think this experience will be useful for both readers and creators of educational content.

Blockchain has a great future in education.

I think it can help people but the idea that they are rewarding users in 0x tokens is ridiculous. I haven't looked at the content yet, but I am sure it isn't anything spectacular since no one has really made any cryptocurrency courses worth taking.

I don't find it annoying tbh, I mean, creating a program that can help spread awareness and also tackle the lack of knowledge people have about cryptos is actually a great idea, plus if they get rewarded for participating in this program is also a good incentive on their part. The thing is that this is clearly a marketing campaign to get people into 0x, I would've prefered if people were given the option to choose a crypto of their preference for the reward.

Agreed, this is the sad truth.
Lately, it's all about money from the never-ending greedy chaps, Coinbase, in particular, used to so rigid even when listing coins. To them, it was like they had achieved everything they had ever wanted. And then came more flexible and friendly exchanges Like Binance, People migrated... This plus the current market condition has made coinbase to succumb to pressure.

So they are looking for all ways of attracting users back to their platforms and then start charging them right after. The same can be said of the Blockchain wallet with their current Stellar Airdrops. They lost the battle a long time ago.

It's called CSR, the scourge of marketing. They hate it almost as much as we do, but it gives them tax relief and in some places, it's actually a requirement. So basically, they have to do it. If not because of the law, then to help their tax structures keep them more money away from the government. If I recall anyway, only 2 of the gifts were charity. The rest were just giveaways. PR, marketing, blah blah. But hey, it's still money going to some useful cause right? Wonder if their blockchain use means we can verify and account for the use of that charity $.

It is impossible to motivate people to learn something by paying them money (bitcoin).Have you ever seen that at the University you would pay for their studies and not You?Perhaps from a marketing point of view it would be a good move, but what will be the incentive for people to gain knowledge just for the sake of 0x tokens? The effectiveness of this type of teaching will not be too great. If a powerful educational portal is really created, then people will not have to pay anything, they will learn by themselves and with pleasure.Today, alas, there are no serious training courses and manuals to gain knowledge about cryptocurrencies. Therefore, the solution is very interesting and necessary.

Im not sure if you are agreeing with me or disagreeing. But I think they should have paid via BTC or just launched free courses that are good. Coinbase has a lot of money to build a good education base, but I dont think they will be. Someone will make an exchange that will take over Coinbase someday. They are leaving so much room for a takeover.
