For new investors it is the best time or the boon to buy at the dip as they do not have to wait till the time price drops from the high. It is like ready plate in front of them they just have to eat it which means they have to buy coins and hold it till the time their price comes. And for exiting investors it it is the buying time as well to average out the price or else book short term profits.

A wise invester should have studied well and understand the market situation prior to his investment , better to invest in the bare market if the market is dipping further wait and  see. For a dropping market partial investment is better  in the volatile market. Mean time in the bull market whenever the price has increased to a high level the newbie like  investors are entering to the market in the high price and when the price is hiked the bull runners are off loading  for booking profit then naturally the market price can come down . The newbie investors are naturally getting panic and  tempting to sell it to the market price to reduce the lose and booking lose.Every body is investing money to the stock market or the crypto market for making profit. So in the crypto market the investor must aware the usefulness of the modern technology and its features incorporated to the bitcoin and the crypto currency.

"buy in the dip" is just a marketing slogan to attract new speculators when the bitcoin price has fallen again, it increasingly works worse.

spikes get smaller dumps get deeper.
"Buy in the dip" is simply saying buy while the price is low frequently reccomended to altcoins whose price drops and speculated to make a price bounce after the down. But i do not recommend to buy altcoins that is down for a moment, before you buy check the altcoin background and charts it might be long way down and you can lose your money on that.

Like others said, it mean to buy when the price has fallen. Assume that the price have been at a certain figure for a long time, all of a sudden the price falls down, not a steady fall but and sudden/instant fall. This fall is called the dip. People suggests others to buy during the dip because they believe that the fall of the price is temporary and will eventually rise back to where it was initially.

We can't predict bitcoin price truly, we can predict but usually our guess would be wrong. The dip thing is the same. When price falls you can say that i am going to buy with dip and will make profit in this way. But we can't predict the dips as well. What if the prices falls down more and your dip turns something too expensive? If you believe in your chance you can try this ofcourse.

Buying the Dip makes more sense from a long-term traders perspective, because they can clearly see what the dip is, where a day-trader will have to guess what the dip is going to be. Day trading on a price that continuously goes upwards, was easier to spot a dip a few years ago, because we know the price will recover after a small dip happened, so we just bought when it dipped slightly.  Roll Eyes

This strategy is more effective, when you are in this for the long haul.  Wink

it is a term which means that in trading we must buy crypto at the lowest price, but we must still cautious because it could be a trap, it could be that prices will continue to decrease

Buying a coin on the dip means to buy a well performing coin but now its price falling and which has the capacity to increase again in future. For example,Bitcoin price was high earlier and recently its price fell down below $4,000.But now again, its price has started to increase. So we could term buying bitcoin now also as buying in the dip.

More investors make huge money by buying coins in the dip.

For your typical "hodler", a dip is simply just a drop in price. I'm sure only a very small percentage of the "hodlers" are actually decent traders, so if someone says "buy the dip", then chances are, the person just said it just because the price dropped a certain percentage. Always remember that bitcoin and the cryptocurrency markets are hugely unregulated, so expect a lot of amateur "investors" in this space. Not to mention that "buy the dip" is also being used as a meme nowadays since the bear market started, when people thought price $x was the floor, but it continued to drop lower. Buy the dip!

So refreshing actually having a good well-thought question here in Bitcointalk.

I think people miss used the dip just like what you just said show how you understand the dip in trading, the dip is when there is a crash in market with a very big percentage which has giving a chance to buy less with what was before even at times x2 of what you suppose buy and hold for long time but many see every slid in price as a dip which is totally wrong and bottom is when you see that all level of any chart you use is extremely at the bottom of the chart and no other way to move up even if its 10-20% and resell to see another bottom but some see it as just $1 drop then it is dip .

Buying the dip is always a matter of comparing the dip price with a higher price.

I like to say I bought the dip as I added another 0.2 btc to my portfolio at ~3,300$  and now is 4100$. But nobody knows exactly when the bottom (dip) is.

buy the dip... means the opposite of buy at the tip

    /\
   /  \
_/     \_/

in essence:
BUY LOW, SELL HIGH
not
BUY HIGH, SELL LOW

This sum up the entire investment strategy.
Hear the conclusion of this matter of volatile:
Buy when the market is low and sell when the market is high base on your concern and strategy.

In the past i have red and heardd this unwritten law" the trend is your friend" and those who try to catch the bottom , very often dont suceed with this strategy because it is actually extremely difficult to catch the bottom of any crypto asset because of the extreme violaty.

I for example failed to so , I was thinking to buy at level from 3k to 3,1k

Buying the dip as I see it applies mostly to investors and not day traders. And it refers to a drop in the price compared to recent values.
This doesn't mean that is the support level or it could not drop further. It just signifies a drop beyond the value it was at, and the potential worth you place on the currency.

when the price is falling like this then we have to buy as much as possible, so when the bull run occurs we will get huge profit.

This time no one is sure about the bull run because market falling day by day, so buy on this dip on your risk and invest amount which you can afford to lose. Bitcoin is unpredictable so no one exactly knows the future of bitcoin in 2019 but rough guesses for the first quarter of 2019 is that bitcoin will reach 10k$-15kk$

Buy on the dip then even the market runs downfall. That is just human desire when doing trading. However, trading bitcoin and crypto currency is different from gold, silver or other real things.

Bitcoin and crypto currency are volatile, it means that even it is considered as drop or dip, it can drops more. because it is unregulated, people are free to transact by them self. Differently, the real things are regulated and control by the stack holders. Therefore, buy on the dip sometimes becoming worthless.

Right.Since the market is so much volatile that it might drop its price even more or may rise up suddenly so learn to invest what you can afford to lose. And with this current market,i think this is still a great time to buy more coins while the prices are in dip and only sell them when a bull run appears only to make huge profits in the end.

i suggest everyone read this thread: To All You Guys Who Keep Telling Everybody to BTFD

the usual understanding that noobs have is what you said: "if price falls, buy!" ideally, investors should enter the market with a bit more precision. if you immediately buy into a crash, chances are that price will go lower than your buy-in. possible a lot lower. noobs often buy near the top and sell near the bottom for that reason.

To buy on the dip basically means you buy Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency when the market price of that coin is down. This is usually done by investors and long term Bitcoin hodlers to sell when the price is a bit good in a few months or years to come.  On the dip simply means the drop in the price or reduction in the price within a particular time.

It might be that you are buying coins in the market that are low price coins , but if you are investing and you wait for the bull run season coming then that is gonna be good investment , but if you buy coin and trade it right away then you must ve attentive monitoring the market price value
