I don't know why you would suggest they wait for something that has never been announced (to my knowledge) and is likely to be years away even if it were. This is a pretty goofy piece of advice and suggestion.
To quote theymos..
will it unlock in 7 days?
<...>
This is a
component of a comprehensive new set of recovery procedures which will be fully rolled out in the very near future (before the end of the year). This will allow recoveries to move forward at a reasonable pace again. But there is no immediate impact of this component to most people; I just needed to document it because the seclog entries are starting to appear.

I'm not entirely sure what thread/post it was that he eleborated this further, but basically he announced that there'll be a "tool" to automatically recover accounts if you can prove ownership through a signed message..??
EDIT: take a look at this thread,
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5021208.msg45305821#msg45305821Hopefully theymos and admins can implement the recovery tool so that you can start recovering your account.
Hopefully
not. The less security mechanisms that could be potentially exploited, the better. There is already a protocol in place to recover your account and if you are able to provide a simple signed address then you're almost guaranteed to get your account back with a little patience. If the account has been hacked, DT is quick to act and tag/untag the account as an attempt to "lock it down" without unnecessary force so-to-speak.
Although i would tend to agree with this, how the account recoveries are going as of currently seems just plain insufficient.
When there are people who already proved ownership waiting months to get their hacked accounts back, something is going wrong..
