Hi
I want to update my Electrum to the latest version and was advised to be sure to save my SEED.
But, checking it revealed a blank box.  Shocked
I have ONE wallet 'key?' (all this is new terms to me) that I have already given to someone to send funds to.

IF I update to the latest version will I still see THAT wallet ID/Key??
I have saved the Master Public Key...
'Just don't want to mess this up!
Please advise on my next step(s)...
Thanks!

Go to Wallet -> Seed. Does it show your seed there?

That's your address. Saving it is irrelevant.

That's not what you need. Your Master Public Key doesn't guarantee that you will have access to your wallet or can restore it in the future if anything happens (it's not used for this).

You probably created your wallet by import private key, not by generate a seed.

There would be no MPK then. What OP is saying doesn't add up. Perhaps the wallet was corrupted during the upgrade process.

@MrNitr0 What does it say in the window title up top? That is the part of the electrum window that contains the app name, wallet name and wallet type: https://i.imgur.com/OqFKxH8.png

Alternatively what does it say for wallet type and script type under wallet > information ? This option may not be available in older versions though.

Get the master private key from the command line.

Pre-2015 wallets had a master private key instead of a seed. I don’t know why it shows a blank box though. Try getting the master private (the box should be gray if it’s imported).

Old wallets did have seeds. Grabbing the master private key can't hurt. I also suggest OP backup his wallet file. Perhaps the option file > save copy is there. If not he can grab the wallet file from the wallets directory. Whatever happens it should be possible to recover his wallet secrets from the wallet file.
