Hi guys,

I happen to be in possession of a btctalk account of a user being in the
- The 100 Most Influential Blockchain People
- Top 10 richest bitcoin people
- registered 2011
- that the account initially belonged to the guy mentioned can be proved

I wonder if there is a market for such an account and what would be the value.
Let me add that I don't necessarily want to sell the acc. If there was a great
offer I might consider selling,
but for the time being I'm mainly interested if
such an account is worth something at all..

Just to be honest you are really risking out your Hero member account to be tagged out.You don't say that its fully on sale but theres an intent
which selling accounts isn't tolerable.

Just to answer you out about such sale you can try to post on here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=73.0 but ready on what would be the consequences.lol

Thanks for your answer. I was totally unaware that account sales are now forbidden.
I'm not super active in this forum any more, and last time I was the sales of accounts
was ok.
So, just for the record: I do not want to sell this account.

Uuhm, I do see a lot of people engage in the activities of selling their accounts to other community users, but I have never been involved in such, so I don’t know how much the account will be worth and I’m not going to be advise you to sell it. Though it’s a matter of choice, maybe if you think it’s right for you to do so then you can go ahead and good luck.

Thanks for your answer. I was totally unaware that account sales are now forbidden.
Account sales isn't forbidden in the forum it's just that the majority (including myself) doesn't want anyone to sell bitcointalk accounts because they're mostly used for scamming purposes. Users that are caught doing so will be reported in the reputation board and tagged by a DT member.

18. Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.

I completely agree with posted above, especially in case account is/was related to some important person in crypto community. Such account should only be used by real owner, but I do not doubt OP will get many PM regarding price of this account. In that regard posting such thread is maybe mistake and it could have been avoided by using forum/google search engine.

We have in past tool for purpose to calculate the value of an individual bitcontalk account, but is was closed almost a year ago : Bitcointalk Account price estimator(Closed)

But I found it that one such project is still alive, and calculator is working, however it should be emphasized that this is just an estimation, and the amount should not be taken as the real value of the account.

I would not expect a 'famous' account to be worth any more or less than any other account of a similar rank or vintage. It would also be much more prone to being snowed under with red trust if it was someone properly well known who clearly was no longer the same poster.

These days there are far fewer signature campaigns paying decent amounts of BTC and that's largely what supported their values in the past.

I see.. I just happen to be in possession of this account, and neither me nor the previous owner were much into the
crypto who-is-who to recognise immediately the fame of this account. So after becoming aware of it I
just wondered what is the value.

Another possible point for abuse is that the previous owner is really known to be crypto-rich, so with bad intentions
I could use it to post "Changed my mind, BTC is bullshit, I'll dump all of mine tomorrow" to get a short
price dip. However, I doubt that this would work out.

So, to be clear: I will not use this account for such a thing and I will not sell it. If I have a boring day, I might
give it another try to contact the original owner (which is not so easy, as he is a little bit famous so his social
networks have the PM-ability disabled etc, I tried this already).
Otherwise Ill just keep it as a kind of collectible.
