Djokovic 2.30
Federer 8.00
Nadal 8.20
Zverev 9.50

Tempted to place a bet on Zverev, nice odds, I believe Federer is done physically, same for Nadal (will too rusty at least), while the favorite is Djokovic I think it's time for Zverev to step up and go far, maybe capitalize on an early crash for Nadal or Federer.

Zverev won the ATP finals while he was at odds 20 before the tournament, it's time to back him to win a slam.

Any constructive opinion welcome.

Zverev maybe young and athletic but Djokovic will still dominate him. Even with lower odds, it best to pick Djokovic to win the championship. Yet, if I'm going to bet play by play, I would bet for Federer coz he still has the talent even without the gas.

To be fair Roger Federer played fantastic today for his first match of the season (won 6-1, 6-1 to Cameron Norrie, it was an exhibition but players usually are serious when playing the Hopman Cup). But my concern still remains his fitness.

Novak Djokovic was great too in Abu Dabi, one thing is for sure, no way Roger Federer will win if he eventually bumps into Novak Djokovic. He will need to avoid it to win the title.

It was expected for Federer to just stomp his class against Norrie, so I'm not surprised by the result though.

I agree. Seems that Novak Djokovic has his numbers. Roger Federer really needs to play perfect just to be able to beat Novak so it would be very difficult specially if your body is giving you a different signals already because of age.

A bit offtopic since he is not really a candidate for the title but watch out for Alex De Minaur, I think he will have a great year and win at least 3 or 4 slams in his career. He is like Lleyton Hewitt but with a more aggressive game. I love watching this kid.
I hope I could find the odds for Alex De Minaur to win an ATP title this season, I am sure he will win at least one.

Aww, you made me feel nostalgic dude, I vividly remember Hewitt playing in my country in 1997, (damn it was long ago). Grin. Yeah, Alex is also one of the best prospects for Australia, it was a good 2018 for him, isn't he almost upset Zverev in the last Davis Cup in a 5 setter(tiebreak) game? Give him 3-5 years to develop and I"m sure he will be one to carry Australia again in Grand Slams.

He is a great breathe of fresh air for Australian tennis, since the likes of Bernard Tomic or Nick Kyrgios seem totally disinterested.
I watched today the match of Nick Kyrgios that he barely won, now I understand why the odds were of 1.55, I thought they were high odds, but bookies know better, he almost lost it. I chose not to bet on this match because it was the next day after New Year Eve and who knows in which condition the player will be. He looked like he did not care at all.

I will try to open a separate thread for Brisbane, perhaps some money to make on this first week of the season.

I am looking forward to see the Nadal vs Tsonga match. I always found Tsonga an aggressive player but unfortunately he has not win any Grand Slam tournaments.

Who can remember the match between Tsonga and Federer in London O2 arena? I can remember the match was one of the longest match in tennis history.

Tsonga is honestly a bad player. And I am french.

This guy has 0 humility, he loses his temper, his concentration. He is unable to play at the same level 2 days in a row. I hate him and his game.

I don't know if you guys have read this news.

So he gifted Tsonga a win and advance to the next round. We understand his concerns though, we all know that he is not getting any younger and the injuries are taking its toll on his body.

I read this news and it's very sad that he's withdrawn from the tournament, he looked rusty but I wasn't expecting him to pull out. I'll agree he's not getting any younger, but those injuries keep on coming he really needs to address those before coming back. I believe Nadals absence is a golden chance for other players, to try and win as they won't have to face him.

Hm Tsonga is a real mystery, looks like the guy lost interest for the game which brought him wealth and status. Ok, he was troubled with injuries and he never dived deep to get back on the track as soon as possible. Became a father and spent lots of time off the court (that's stg. Fed, Djoker, Rafa never did). Now his serve and fh are good, but opponent make exploits hitting into his backhand side. He needs improvement on bh, and court speed.

I like Nadal and Federer. They made really nice games over those last 10 years.

I don´t think Nadal is done, he may surprise everyone. He is not as old as Federer, who is really done physically.

No, Federer should not avoid Djokovic but defeat him instead to win the title. I know it's hard for him to defeat Djokovic but we will never know until they meet in the court. Federer might have aged but Djokovic also has issues with his injuries.

I still believe age cannot hold Roger Federer down when he is in the mood, Djokovic and all the other guys are no match for Federer in his hay days and i trust him to beat off competition from these guys and even extend his record in Australia this season.

Well Federer looks done physically but he pulls off surprises from time to time and when he gets in the mood of his vintage best nobody can stop him so i will give all of them the credit but Djokovic stands tall and might win the Grand slam but we shouldn't write off the old folks.

Please remind me when was the last time Roger Federer managed to beat Novak Djokovic in a slam?
I think the answer is 2012. The last time I cam remember him getting close enough for 2014 Wimbledon.

Back on topic, tempted to place a small wager on Kei Nishikori to reach the final. He is in great form. Very good odds even though it is still a long shot.

Nishikori is one of the tennis players that will make a difference and show up in the coming years. He is also very well prepared for the Australian Open as I can read in the news.
I am also in favor of a new talented guy Stefanos Tsitsipas who has shown some skills lately (he is No.15 in ranking and he has won Intrum Stockholm Open 2018). I think that it is a good option as the odd for him are at 41.00 which may give a good profit.

Woow main draw for AO 2019. is done. So Novak Djokovic potentially can meet Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in round 2. That match will remind us of some old days.....when these two were at their beginnings. Logically Nole is far better player but it will be mental game.... ghosts from the past times.

Coming back to this as I am very hyped! Stefanos Tsitsipas has made it to the Semi-finals disqualifying Roger Federer and Bautista Agut. He is the youngest player to reach Slam semifinals since 2007!
Now he has a difficult game, probably against Nadal, but I have faith for the 41.00 odds so far. After all, reaching so close is a win!
