Hi all,

Can everyone spread this... we have been scammed alongside many other coins and also individuals that deposited their Btc into this exchange https://smarts.exchange

The exchange was working all of a sudden it shut down leaving many people without their coins and also stealing a lot of investor's BTC.

Is there anyone that can find those in charge of this scam and report it back to here, looks like they have done a really rubbish job covering their tracks and we have found a lot of info such as ips and it links to a valeting service in Vietnam but if everyone could share this and let's endure these scammers get put to justice!

When they turned to a scam exactly? I mean there is a message showing that they have a problem will their database and that they should be back up by 25th August?

You might be able to find something but I doubt it will be helpful If the scam occurred 4 months ago, they probably vanished to somewhere they cannot be found.

already by seeing the domain name it feels a little bit as shady. thats why I do not trust any amount to shady and recent launched exchanges.

This exchange is new and already offline.

And as for suggestions, don't use any new exchange even with their large referral promises together with free coin listing, they just want to lure people there. All of these new exchanges are all scam or going to scam unless they we're backed with large entity. Use a reputed exchange to prevent such happening.

I was excited for the Roller project which I believe is also part of the smarts.exchange.  It's too bad that signs seem to indicate a scam.  What attracted me was that there seemed to be a keen talent for technology development.  However, that doesn't even seem to be a good metric anymore... seen just as many projects with shoddy tech that are honest and successful.

What's weird to me is I thought I remember a photo posted from discord that was from a hospital.  Yes... this is the link:  https://discordapp.com/channels/465026521791463434/465027235020013590/512474463862784022

So.. it just seemed odd.  This was also around the timing that there seemed to be less input from the exchange developer.  The post is from some user calling them self "SmartExchange" and also had the Roller project avatar.  This is from the Vietnamese channel and even trying to translate is... well, not very effective at all.  For example, that post says "chua khi nao a xuat vien da"  and google translates this to "
sour when a leather teacher"  Maybe it means something like.. oh forget it lol... not even going to try.  Maybe someone that speaks Vietnamese can explain.

But then the next line says, "Sao lại bệnh thế huynh" which thankfully does translate to something easier to interpret, "Why are you sick?"  So, apparently, the SmartExchange person was in the hospital.

Roles of user SmartExchange#1077  include CEO, Admin, Core, Coinmaster, and Develop.

He/she posted the hospital picture 3 different times in discord.  Not sure if it may have been posted other places.  I think this is significant.  The sick person clearly wanted people to know he/she was sick.  Not sure if it was meant to be used as an excuse for neglecting exchange duties.  Or, it could all some sinister deception.

I read over his/her posting in discord.  It sort of looks like someone lost and confused in charge of managing and possibly developing/implementing said website.  Seemed like many frown faces and attempts to handle poor exchange issues.

Other than that, I recommend that a scam accusation post be made here in the btc-talk scam accusation section:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

Good luck to all here.  Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it.  Hopefully it's something innocent and not yet another bitcoin fraud.

First of all move this thread to Scam Accusations with any evidence if you have.
When I see that 100BTC rewards for referral program then it might be a scam attempt for exit scam so don't deposit any money into this exchange for now.

Obviously, it is a scam. If you need these fake marketing gimmicks to attract people you are desperately looking to hit bank before you leave for good. It is a clear indication of an exit scam.

Another obvious sign is that the exchange uses a horrible domain name. It was obtained through a discount sale on Namecheap without bothering to register it for 5 or more years, which legit businesses mostly do.

It's a shame that these things still happen with how after so many hacks and thefts you would expect people to be more cautious in terms of selecting their exchanges to trade on and whatnot....

It will continue to happen, and it will get worse as time goes by. Most of the compliant exchanges are so strict with their policies, and will probably become fort knox pretty soon, that people are more or less forced to use non compliant shitcoin exchanges. So it's not really related to hacks and inside jobs.

Binance isn't exactly a shitcoin exchange, but their success comes from the fact that they don't care about regulations. The exchanges below Binance, which do classify as shitcoin exchanges, differentiate themselves by adding the shitcoins Binance doesn't want to list. In other words, it's a whole industry that emerged and will continue to grow till regulators step in and put an end to this nonsense.

With just looking on the domain you would really have second thoughts to use it up but sadly there are still people who do fall on such scam attempts that why
scams do continue to exist due to these numb people who don't know how to spot out a possible scam and continue to use it up will already feed these fellas.
They would only learn if they loss money and later on new people without having proper research will be victimized again and the cycle continues again.

You could potentially try digging deeper to find who's behind them, but honestly, it's probably not worth your time.

Even if you do find where they are located, it is very unlikely that you'll be able to actually do anything with that information that would lead to your funds being recovered from the exchange. You're essentially counting on local authorities caring about this case (which they probably will not, since it's not a very large exchange in question), and that you can somehow reach them from another country.

But this is honestly one of the most obvious scams that I've seen in a while. All the giveaways, and referral programs that are promising free coins that they offer basically rule out any legitimacy. The broken English is an obvious cue as well. In future, don't just use random exchanges you find on chat groups or via a google search. Always research, check their volume on coinmarketcap, check their reputation on the forum, etc.

Yes, that was also I have seen on their exchange site and that was obviously shady one, there's a lot of newly launched exchanges site now giving a high amount of giveaways such as giving a bonus to those who register their exchange site.

@OP thanks for this warning but if I were you, I must prefer to use exchange site that reputed one and having good service to avoid the problem in the future, avoid those newly exchange having promising programs that free. Indeed, if you still biting those newly exchanges launched be researchful on them not just look the giveaways given.

How the hell did you find this exchange? This exchange is not listed in coinmarketcap, so how did you find this exchange? avoid using exchange that are anonymous, always use exchange that you know the owner of exchange, use exchange you know their office. the crypto world is not yet regulated in the largest possible number of countries, so many scammers are making the party

if it's like this, it will be difficult to find them and it looks like they have already gotten a lot of BTC and other crypto, this is a valuable lesson to choose honest exchange, smart investors will definitely choose a popular and trusted exchange,
