There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

When I use X I use awesome too, but in the "full screen" mode, which means that I rarely see my bacground screen.

So my desktop is very boring and I will spare it to you.

PS.  Bah...  here it is, anyway:

By the way, for those who don't know it yet, the awesome developpers accept bitcoin donations.  Their address is on their community page:

http://awesome.naquadah.org/community/

It's not on the main awesome page, though Sad

what distros do you guys use?

Just started using Gentoo. I'm loving it so far, but still in the process of installing everything I need and customizing it.  Highly recommend it if you want to learn more about Linux or want a minimal distro (but it doesn't have to be minimal). Runs so much smoother on my old netbook than my Ubuntu install did. Let me know if you want to know more about it.
