<...>
Take a look at the following posts: Merit & new rank requirements and re: Who can award merits?.

The first of the threads is the official forum thread concerning merits and their relation to ranks. On the second post I focus on explaining the difference between merits and sMerits, and the origin of the latter. What the post states still remains true, with the amendment related to Merit Sources and the amount of sMerit they have: the current correct data is "There are 120 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 22055 sMerit per 30 days".

Merit is what you received, Merit you can send is called Smerit. When you receive 1 Merit, then you will have 0.5 Smerit, but it won't show up, you need at least 2 Merit, then you will be able to see your 1 Smerit and send it to anyone.
I didn't understand Merit at first, but it became easy to understand when you had Merit. You only need to post some high quality posts and you will probably get them.

I doubt about the word SIR will suit here. I have read some replies in other sections about this and many users do not agree with the use of this word. Many of the users hate this word and I do not know why when it is only to respect other users.Just saying you could also the word or maam just to make sure that it will address to both male and female users.

The other guy has explained well so for you to be able to comprehend more you need to earn merit now by posting good quality posts or articles that might be helpful and do good in this forum. This is the usual or common advise of the users here in the forum. However, some are not doing it and instead they buy merits to some users here in the forum.

for each Merit you receive , you get 0.5 sMerit
but you can only use the Smerit when it's a real number (1,2,3,4,5,6,,etc)you can't send 3.5 Smerits ! .

so if you receive 1 Merit, you will have 0.5 Smerit in your account, but you can't see it/use it.
when you get another 1 which is total of 2 Merit received, you will have another 0.5 sMerit to be added to your previous 0.5 sMerit and you will end up with  1
complete sMerit that you can send to somebody. and your 1 sMerit will give that person 0.5 sMerit.

so if there is no newly generated merits " which there is" the sMerit on the whole forum will eventually finish.

What you said all is correct but in the end you said if their is no newly smerits generated then this whole forum will finish that is false as forum will be living but the merit system will come to halt and who ever is holding what rank will be stuck in that rank and their wont be any upgradation. So smerit are normally generating and the smerit source are receiving it to distribute it.

Merits will not dry up.Merit sources are allocated new merits every month and they distribute them to users who deserve them. Only the individuals who dont receive new merits from other members wont have new sMerits to spend. But that doesnt mean that the overall supply will be lower it just means that other users received those merits you could have gotten, or me, or anyone else.
