I read a thread in here that reminded me of something I mentioned on reddit a little while back:

If porn helped VHS win over Beta thanks to being cheap and plentiful, why can't porn help bitcoin in the same way?

Shy people making sex-toy purchases online, people signing up to swinger sites, or cheating spouces signing up to etc... I'm sure many of these people would prefer that a payment NOT show up on their credit card statements (even if the transaction shows up under a generic name).  If these sites accepted bitcoin, they may do some extra business.

It's just a thought. With Silk Road doing the business it does, I'm surprised that adult-themed sites haven't started inquiring about this kind of thing.

Some have, but one of the reason that porn sites exist is to harvest credit card data, for the exact reason that some of the user's are unlikely to file charges against them for fear of their spouse finding out about it.  Instead, they will just close the account and pay the false charges.

Honestly, both porn and gambling exist as borderline socially acceptable enterprises online.  Would you trust your CC data (and thus your identity) to an anonymous online drug site, even if it claimed to be legit?

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

People smart enough to use Bitcoins are also smart enough to not need to pay for porn.

Loosing a lot of money by buying BTC is probably about as damaging to a lot of relationships as being caught buying a pocket-pussy.
