So, I've been steadily increasing the rate at which I'm reporting spam, but I have a question regarding spam replies in ICO bounty threads. Is it okay to report spam replies to bounty threads? You know, these replies where people just quote their own posts 10 times. Example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5023814.msg47833236#msg47833236In the end, it's just pure spam and it doesn't contribute anything to the forum, so I should just report it, right? Or is this sort of stuff kinda condoned because it's contained within these bounty threads?

It does actually to some extent . People join the forum to participates in the bounties, most of them are spammers no doubt but from them you will find some of them become loyal members. I have seen a lot of the examples. Or is this sort of stuff kinda condoned because it's contained within these bounty threads? If you feel to report then do it but I think it's better to leave them there because those posts serving a purpose for the bounty participants.

Somewhat of a fair point @mdayonliner
Rebuttal though: They can put in a little bit more effort and just post their results in a better format. Okay, there might be a better way to tell them that, than just reporting them.
So, maybe I should just send them a PM and ask them to stop quoting their own posts so much and instead ask them to make a short summary instead.
IDK, would like to hear some different opinions on this, preferably from a moderator.

They actually didn't specify to do their proof of work/ update in that kind of way. ★★★★ Proof of Work ★★★★ ➽ Comment your proof of work in the following format: Week #1 Facebook Campaign
Shares + posts 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. The way I see it is campaign participants thinks that this is a much easier approach rather than inserting the hyperlinks of their previous weeks to their latest post which I think is a much more less spammy looking compared to what they are doing now.

I'd refer to my thread here: "Shouldn't bounty managers clean up spam posts in their thread ?" I have largely over 1000 reported posts and 90% come from bounty spam. It means that I report every post which does not follow the campaign rules, or which are posted after a campaign has finished. Probably a complete waste of time and energy, but so is life. Cheers!

Snip... IMO it all comes down to bounty managers and their way of preferred collecting report, although a lot of them actually states the work of previous weeks shouldn't be quoted but, some participants are just so dumb or ignorant to the rules. I think the best solution to these sort of spam as well as unnecessary bumping of the bounty thread is to restrict or allow each participant with just one post on the bounty thread, they should write their authentication posts and edit it weekly to add task reports.

maybe i could be better in some way. Most of ICOs do this to report this or that but this can be reduced if they are willing to do it. On this I mainly mean that they create form like they have for applying but in this form they will have to place this or that post in numbers, with this it could result that we have reduced spam in 90% of bounty topic. Second wee have many lines with " reserve this/that translation ", also this can be reduced with same method.

You can report them when someone is quoting their own quote again and again then which may gives them temporary ban for spamming if they have only using this forum for reporting in bounty threads. There are lot of people who is reporting on the bounty threads even when managers asked to report on google forms which is also against the forum rule.

I think BManagers should strictly stick to the use of the Proof of Work form. It's not just enough merely putting out the instruction on the OP without enforcing it when participants misbehave. But I think this will be a tall order for bounty managers as most of them don't even have time checking posts count regularly.

Nothing personal OP but I have a question for you.
How the hell you got so much time to read through the 168 pages of a bounty thread?

I have seen that some bounties actually require their participants to make only one proof of work post and after that edit that one post with new links for the week that passed. That is a better approach than quoting all the posts from the 1st week someone started participating in the campaign.

Almost every single bounty thread is filled with hundreds of them each week. This is what earns them points which are later converted to tokens/money. This would obviously be categorized as spam, but then you cannot sit all day and keep reporting them in every single thread, nor you can send PMs to all of them and tell them not to do this - it would take a hell lot of time. The only solution to this would be if the managers ask the participants to submit their completed tasks through google forms and not by posting in the thread. And that would not happen as long as an official announcement about this takes place by the administrating department of the forum.

There is no reason to quote your previous posts when you make your weekly report in bounty campaigns. It's annoying for everyone, even for the managers themselves. Some of them actually don't allow that type of posts. Bounty hunters probably do this because they fear the BMs will miss some of their reports. So yeah personnally, I consider it as spam.

I will thank you personally for this post because I am bearing this question in my mind for a long time. I can see some project are a fully open scam but I afraid to comment about that. I have also this question to moderators. If we allow posting Consciousness comment about scamming project then many users can avoid the scam project.
