In the UK, we have a mix of numbers and letters to create a registration identity for motor vehicles. Most of the registrations are just a jumble of unrelated characters, but some of them appear to be meaningful words. This is one that I saw in the car park of the Morrisons supermarket. Have you seen some interesting numbers in your country?

Is it legal to post the image of the car? I thought you had to obfuscate either the car or the plate?

I haven't seen a personalised number plate although I feel like if you're not looking, you're probably not going to find one.

I actually spoke to the owner, and he gave me permission. He was in a bit of a rush though, so I didn't manage to find out why he thought of himself as a webbie. I may have missed out there. Maybe he was an early Bitcoin adopter. He is proud of his car and number plate, and I want it, but I've got no chance of getting it.

I thought they only cost about £800? Or are they more expensive than that?


It could be a nickname or related to a surname also but if not, there might have been a good story there.

K1NGS was sold to an Arab for about £240,000 a few years ago.

My friend owned BOR1S on a Jag XJS, and sold the combo for £10,000. I think he should have got more for it. The Jag wasn't special, so wasn't worth much.

A personalized number is nice to have, especially since it can go up in value.

The government body that oversees car registrations in my neck of the woods recently introduced personalized license plates. Even though the fees are quite reasonable $250 up front and a $35 yearly additional fee tacked on I would have thought more people would buy these type of plates. I have only seen a handful so far. I guess the majority just wants to blend in. Like most, I probably won't be rocking the boat either. Long live anonymity.
