Is a hard fork good or bad?

When a coin moves forward to a hard fork is it for good or is it for bad? do you think that its price will rise or fall ? would you invest on a coin that has done hard fork? and what would you do if you own a coin that has announced a hard fork? would  you sell it or not?

In fact, it all depends on what the coin and fork promise. For example, during last year's NXT fork, the expectation was very high and the NXT almost made it x10. But the ETC did not create the expected effect during the hard fork.

You're right. I remember when i loaded up ETC last year due to the upcoming fork but the price didn't rise as expected as the hype was very low unlike the NXT fork. For the upcoming eth's fork, i think it's a significant fork as it will change ethereum from using pow to pos.

I think it is good for that coin which is under fork. ETH may be best example of fork. Last year ETH was suffering of price which was under $83 but when fork news come its price going up and now $156 already. So i can not say it is bad.

Hard fork to me is not bad base on the idea,the idea is to upgrade or improve in the network but it might bring down the price of the particular coin if it gave birth to a new coin.

I have no experience for technology but I see that hard fork has two cases
- Upgrade to improve. Errors will be fixed so it's good.
- Creating an other coin. No one can know exactly, the time will answer.

For both case, the price will go up till hard fork then it will down.

hardfork is done because there are certain reasons, such as the bitcoin and ethereum hardfork process, the need for coins continues to grow so it must multiply supply with different variations that allow to cover up coin weaknesses, update blockchain technology, security and stability.

In most of cases, in terms of prices, the prices almost always gone down whenever there was hard fork of those coins. I rarely noticed price rise whenever the hard fork came, but in most cased, it will be needed to do hard fork to improve the problems with the blockchain of that particular coin when any hard fork announces.

somehow yes, somehow no, if a hardfork update will really going to benefit the crypto, it will be beneficial but if the hardfork is just intended to create a new coin without really a nice update. It will be not good as the market cap is divided for the market.

traders usually take opportunity to earn profit when hard fork.get new coin be main reason for them and also price rising before snapshot, but we have to sell it when snapshot done, cause price goes down after this.

This means that the coin cannot give anything to the investor anymore and you have to hold the plug in order to attract more investments. But I do not know much of examples when the fork surpassed the parental coin or gave excellent performance, so maybe I did not sell it, but I was already careful.

This is what happen to bCH and BSV. Now, the crypto has been splitting into two but BCH still has dominated over BSV as coinmarketcap.com shows the ranking list between these two crypto.

But, If I were to chose then I will go on BSV because this is the hardfork of BCH. A new and upgraded software for BCH is BSV.

Due to the bitcoin hardfork and that creates a lot of confused among the speculators, buyers and investors. Hardfork is not a good thing but as long as that will be only upgrading the system and it's alright, nothing wrong with it.

If me i heard from friend, actually hardfork is not good for that coin itself. But coin that hardforked it will increased in price because people want free new coins that can get for holding it. If me if i have that coin, i will hold and sell when before it hardforked.

some people consider this hardfork event to be a good opportunity and a very good development because it means that more coins will be created and more solutions will be created from cryptocurrency, while traders may be happy to be able to take advantage of this situation to get profit because usually when a hardfork occurs, the price of the coin will go up.

For me, Hardfork were made to create a competition which platform is better, faster and secured. It can't be denied that that when there is a hardfork, there will be a pump for the original altcoin and a dump for the copycat. It is good in terms of making money because of the bonus altcoin you will get from hardfork but technically speaking, they only making business out of it and confused new investors.

In general, I have not always been very good at hard fork, because I saw something similar only in BTC, but as we all know that ETH is the fork of the ETC project, therefore, in general, I think that such investment should show that ETH continues its development .
