I have bittrex and binance account.  I used it to trade btc for altcoin, thus buy altcoin only.  I have a coinbase acct that needs to get reverified.  Im also an American as well.  Thus i know coinbase and gemini are 2 sites where you could sell btc for real cash and get bank transfer to your american bank account.  At the moment, i still haven't reverified my coinbase account.  Gemini i cannot use b/c they require me to use an sms us number for verification and im outside the us at the moment.  So i dont really have a way to sell btc for cash into my us bank account such as bank of america or wells fargo.

If i wanted to sell btc for usd or fiat if i dont have a verified account at coinbase or bitstamp... is the best way to make sure i sell btc at the price i want to sell is basically sell it for usdt at bittrex or binance?  Then once im reverified on coinbase or could use gemini, then i basically sell the usdt for btc at bittrex or binance and then immediately send the btc to coinbase or gemini and then i get a usd balance there... and then transfer that to my american bank account?

Does anyone know what are my other options because im not in the US at the moment?  Someone mentioned you could use bitstamp and they do wire transfers around the world.  Has anyone here used bitstamp and done a wire transfer from bitstamp to their american bank account and how was it?  Were fees a lot or not much?  Someone said this was one way to do it.  The other thing is does anyone know if i could use the bitpay debit card outside the us and withdraw usd from atm that way?  If so, i might consider getting a bitpay card whenever im in the us etc.

So Americans, what are the best options to sell btc for cash to your bank?  Is it basically coinbase or gemini?  Back then i used circle once for tiny amount and it was great but they no longer operate for that anymore.  If they did, i would use circle instead.

Any other exchanges where you could sell btc for real money for americans with american bank account?

when you want to use something you have to also accept its rules. in this case when you start bringing in fiat you have to also bring in its rules which would include KYC and a ton of other rules and they start with you verifying your accounts on exchanges that you want to use.

if you don't want to use your banks then you should do the trade elsewhere instead of on exchanges. like using some platform to meet others who want to  buy/sell bitcoin. but that will also have its own risks because there is a lot of ways to perform fraud when fiat is involved.

If i wanted to sell btc for usd or fiat if i dont have a verified account at coinbase or bitstamp... is the best way to make sure i sell btc at the price i want to sell is basically sell it for usdt at bittrex or binance?  Then once im reverified on coinbase or could use gemini, then i basically sell the usdt for btc at bittrex or binance and then immediately send the btc to coinbase or gemini and then i get a usd balance there... and then transfer that to my american bank account?
if you want to sell bitcoin for USD then  sell it for USD and don't complicate things with other trades which will require you to pay a lot of trading fees on each of them. not to mention that you would be trusting more than one exchange and you would also have to hold your new tokens (Tether for example) on their platform even if it is a short time and they can scam you and run away at any moment.

I might sound like a broken record now as I suggest this a lot, but if you simply want to trade BTC <-> fiat almost anywhere in the world, then try out LocalBitcoins[1]. It's also peer-to-peer, which is a good thing. It's just that prices can be a lot pricier. If you don't like the prices listed, I suggest creating your own buy and sell offers.

Best of luck.

Actually i lived in indonesia, but if you don't mind i can suggest you to use Paypal to convert BTC to Fiat money. I suggest this since i know that BTC can convert to paypal, after you convert to paypal and than you can withdraw from paypal to local bank transfer. I just compare that in indonesia more easier to convert BTC to local bank through local trading market such as triv.com and indodax which automatically can transfer the amount to local bank.

You can also get PayPal funds for your bitcoin through LocalBitcoins[1]. There are definitely scammers there, so only pick those reasonably reputable members. Their trust ratings and feedback are publicly displayed anyway, so spend a bit of time checking those statistics.

You refer to Fiat money as "real money" and that is a slap in the face of most Bitcoiners on this forum. What makes it real? I can buy physical and digital items with my BTC without any problems, so Bitcoin is very real to me.  Roll Eyes

Just open an account at a local Bank in the country where you are working now and link it to a local exchange and then sell the bitcoins. Then you do not have to deal with all the "capital control" nonsense. <Just transfer the BTC and then sell it.>

Or ask a friendly local to do it for you.

My advice is to go to a ATM and cash your bitcoins into money.
You can find the bitcoin ATM-s in the USA on this map
https://coinatmradar.com/country/226/bitcoin-atm-united-states/

I do not know if Skrill (second payment processor in the world after PayPal) is available in the USA, but if it is available (Skrill and Neteller), then Skrill is very good for converting bitcoin to fiat money (cash money). You deposit fiat money onto your Skrill account with bitcoin and Skrill sends the fiat money to your bank account. If Skrill is not available in the USA, then try Neteller, please.

You used to be able to do it via virwox as they took paypal payments, but that has now been discontinued. Not sure if they will enable it again, fees were high but it was easy to use so for some it was still ok to trade there

The best and easiest way to convert your bitcoin into fiat if you are American is to use Coinbase wallet which support this kind of conversion. I do not know if there is an any bitcoin ATM in America because it can also help you to convert your bitcoin into fiat.

You used to be able to use virwox exchange for paypal transactions but a few weeks ago they stopped the paypal facility. It is not known if they will bring it back again, it was useful for quick transfers if you don't to do KYC on fiat exchanges

Americans can use Paxful, sure. It seems like the best alternative to LocalBitcoins if you're trying to avoid KYC.

I used Bitstamp several years ago as an American -- always good experiences, no complaints. However, that was before they mandated KYC and got a Luxembourg license. I've heard a few horror stories about them holding funds hostage (probably because they contacted law enforcement about the accounts in question) or requiring really invasive KYC questionnaires and documentation.
