Will it be a battle for Ethereum and Ripple all throughout 2019 for second spot

I think eth and xrp are going to retain their 2nd and 3rd rank in 2019 also. Eth will strengthen its position due to volume and value increase that will be triggered by the upcoming massive upgrades.

It is interesting to see what is going on in coinmarketcap as regards Ethereum and ripple.  Ripple replaced Ethereum last year as second most capitalized cryptocurrency now ether has kicked ripple to third place.

ETH has always maintained the position for along time and XRP only took over for a short while, which means that the position rightfully belong to ETH and the other was just a transition.
If is there is another battle, ETH will still take it up. This coin has come to reign in 2019.

Its not really about about what coin is better eth or xrp. The battle lies within investors who are making decision on where to invest and when to start it. Also, to the developers of those altcoins that continuously making ways to increase their market.

I agree with you, it's an eyesore to see Ripple in the second spot because it is not a decentralized coin, we have to support Ethereum to make sure it stays on top, the two are the real cryptocurrency if Ripple gets the second spot again it is a threat to Bitcoin again.

Ethereum has regained its spot as the world's second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization after recent gains, many will be hoping this positive start to 2019 will continue for the rest of the year, don't have any altcoins can battle ethereum, I just hope stellar is stronger to take over ripple become top 3 cryptocurrency.

Ethereum gives the more benefits compared to the ripple and that makes sense if that stays above ripple in term of marketcapitalization. Ripple still become a vague coin and there was a lot of people are still feeling doubt about that does ripple can be categorized as centralized crypto or not.

Yes most probably the results will remain same as ETH over took XRP and now it will stabilize its position to retain its spot for a long time also the hard fork effect will be a big boost for ETH if it happens, somehow the story of crypto will be interesting for the next few months.

Cryptocurrency market is unpredictable and at that I can't say that it a battle for supremacy between ethereuem and ripple for the second spot but only time shall tell what will happen in the market and we all hope that 2019 will be a great year for all the cryptocurrencies that have good potential.

If the expected improvements in ethereum in mid-January will qualitatively improve this coin, then there will be no more battle with ripple. Ethereum after this should greatly increase in terms of capitalization compared to Ripple and will feel confident in its second place. Already, ethereum has outpaced ripple in terms of capitalization by more than one billion dollars. I think that the gap between them will only widen.

It will be a close fight, I mean if Ripple pulled it off last year then I think that ETH won't back down this time knowing that they legitimately have a competitor that can actually take them off on that 2nd spot they have, I'm quite happy that ETH has retained the 2nd spot but for how long could it be? Its just a matter of momentum and consistency throughout the end, though I will still support Ethereum no matter what the outcome may be.

I think Ethereum will stay on the second, their own, place and no battle will not starts again.

No. ETH will get huge bump soon and there will be a big gap between those two. After the hardfork of ETH, people will be more interested in PoS and will buy more for staking thus ETH will get huge bump and strengthen its 2nd position.

I am not sure. But we can see later after Constantinople release.
Because, if Constantinople implemented the smart-contract feature (just like Ethereum)+PoS system, then Constantinople coin would be better than Ethereum. Many new projects will appear on the Constantinople platform.
Obviously, this is the chance for Ripple to seize the Ethereum position at 2nd spot.

But if not, Ripple will take a long time to seize Ethereum position.
