I wonder how many people will fail for this scam. It probably won't cause any pump if there's not so many victims. On top of that, after the hacker got those BTC, it's likely he will sell it on exchanges, so Bitcoin can dump again. It's artificial pump at best.

Agreed, but would the hackers risk a big dump on some exchange/s which would quickly be raided by FBI CIA et.al. given they will move heaven and earth to stop the release of these 18,000 documents and to get these guys.

I am very fond in the conspiracy about the 9:11 attack, in fact, I had researched about it and watch documentaries about who's behind or what really happens on the said tragedy, I really think this said hacker had dug up quite an information that he can demand a large sum of bitcoin, And I really think the mastermind behind this tragedy was quite popular for making such bold request.
I really think the price would sure pump if the one that is behind the 9:11 would sure convert a large amount of Bitcoin, But if he or she already have bitcoin I really think there wouldn't be any changes with the value, Well that is just my opinion and if this could cause an uproar with the price or not we will have to wait and see.

haha, it sounds more like a drama that the news sites are creating with a fake story but no it is not "demand" it is drama and it won't change anything about bitcoin or its price. these things are always around and the media starts putting then under magnifying glass from time to time. and by the way a "hacker" would ask for Monero or a real anonymous coin not bitcoin.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

While true, it really depends. Hackers might hold it for a while and wait for a sort of way or a solution for them to move the bitcoins they scammed to an exchange without exposing the address they used for the scam. Remember, bitcoin's blockchain is transparent.

If the amount they're asking for is not that big they could easily use a mixer or trade it for altcoins to hide their tracks then dump it on an exchange. On another article it's mentioned that they've leaked episodes of orange is the new black after they received the ransom. It's probably not a good idea to pay these hackers since they could still delete the files afterwards. The news is the latest public extortion attempt from the group known as The Dark Overlord, which has previously targeted a production studio working for Netflix, as well as a host of medical centres and private businesses across the United States.

No it will not because sooner or later the hackers will going to exchange btc holdings to fiat currency so there is no relevance for the market price increase of bitcoin with the hacking activities. Just like other users here pointed out so probably it is indeed no relevance for btc to get a market price increase.
BTC market price will.only happen if more.investors will.invest and hold and wait for the time to sell.

It depends on who takes the bite. If the dump files are indeed true (which I guess is not), the government would be the ones taking a piss from a lot of people and organizations across the globe. The bitcoins they got from the ransomware would just be dumped on exchanges so the pump would just be for a short while, so it's not really going to make a significant change IMO. Price would be higher if true and organic demand is present, not just from a short-lived event.

While people can definitely create drama online, these ransomwares actually really exist. I know one guy personally that's a victim of a randomware. Fortunately, he doesn't have much important things on his home computer, hence he doesn't need to pay for the ransom. All he did was a reinstall of Windows10 and hes fine. Also, what has the bear market have to do with this? I couldn't understand your second sentence.

If someone really pay maybe it can rise the price, but it's not rising that we want, it will be only temporary rising as the hackers will sell the coin as soon as they got the chance and it will be tainted bitcoin reputation, so when it got correction, the price will fall down deeper, hopefully this is just a hoax news, the market already in bad shape, if any incident stir the market again then it will create more chaotic situation

I don't think that will pump the price of bitcoin. There are ransom attacks even before but I think the timing for those was just coincidence. Dude someone paid off 3.1 BTC and other few amounts that just recently confirmed.

Seems like that would be an unjust rise in price and a tragedy if it happened. I've read that hackers are moving more away from ransomware and more towards cryptojacking which is more profitable for them.
Have a great day, The Cyberius team.

The chances of these firms paying any ransom demands for this information is very slim, because they have no guarantee that these hackers will not release the information after they paid. It will also shine the light on their involvement into something sinister and secretive, which will make them a target for more hackers and the media. OP, to answer your question - No this will not increase the price, if Bitcoin ransom like this is paid. It might even push down the price, if it get too much media attention.

hacking has been going on for a long time and even now it is still happening, the impact of hacker requests on victims has absolutely no impact on increasing bitcoin at all, pumps and pure bitcoin decline from investors because of market control so far

If eventually they got the btc was paid to them, they will try and dump all in the market without any knowledge of the impact it will have on the market and this may lead to another great dump in the price of bitcoin for that time.
