I Didn't know where else to post this , this goes to newbies ranked members all the way to legendary members.

Rather than telling you the DOs, i'll just list the DONT"s

1- Don't be a 1-liner shitposter

this is not Twitter, you will seem like a shitposter who is only posting to get paid for the signature campaign, even if there is nothing much to say , just type some bullshit to fill in your actual words.

2- Don't post  China great wall text

nobody has got the time nor the mood to read 30 lines for the same person unless it was Satoshi explaining  how to get free bitcoin.

3- stick to simple format

don't use capital / bold / kinder-garden like colors / weird ICO symbols on your tittle.

if you stop doing these 3 annoying things, you will be more effective, get more merit, more love and you can thank me later.

Cheers.

lol okay the word bullshit was a bit extreme, it's more like use a short opening-statement , i mean some people reply with a "Yes" or a "No" when they can say something like " well, it's impossible to know for sure, but i think it is a YES", even though a single word would suffice, it will still be more like a shit-post to most people.

It is still the knowledge and how witty an individual will going to present the details of his posts. Aside from that hardwork will going to matter. Posting some informative content that will going to cater for more hours, days or even weeks on doing it will probably ideal to get a merits. Usually I have seen a user doing like this was DdmrDdmr in his/her statistical posts that gathered a lot of merits.

This is really difficult to do this is why many newbies and lower rank whining about not getting merit.

Right, the length of the post doesn't really matter. What count the most is the information and ideas you put on your post. If your idea/information is not scarce to look, just usual / common sense logic, it is very hard to get merits to rank up. There's really no other way to learn how to post 'correctly' other than reading the posts of top merited members.

I don't agree with this. If you can show clearly what you mean in short words, then don't use lengthy words.

More often than not, what is appreciated is that the content of the post has been thought through, has a proper structure, and is expressed in a readable manner with a proper flow of words.

One-liners 99,99% of the time do not meet that criteria, and very few people can get away with posting something relevant in just one line. Nevertheless, piling bullshit word upon word in order to extend the post’s length a couple of lines more does not differ too much from a one-liner, and can be counter-productive.

Large posts are not that frequent, and should be justified in any case by its content. Some take posting as a personal log of all the flow of disordered ideas that come into mind, ending-up with massive walls of text that may seem entertaining at first, but that are later never read in full. Others are technical and require a thorough explanation.
What I do find is that long text from Newbies are immediately suspicious of coming not from the author’s mind, but from some other non-referenced source. That may lead to people giving the post a pass in fear of meriting a plagiarized post. Even if there is a reference to the source, I personally look for a meditated thought along with a summary, and not a pasted text with a source.

The format as you say should be simple, and normally a few fancy things may be thrown in if the text is long, in order to break the monotony. In any case, going further than using bold, cursive, or underlined text is not necessary (perhaps the odd surgical colour may be used). Capital letters and changing the default font size normally acts as a deterrent.

How often would you be able to express your thoughts in a one line reply, yes definitely you cannot always express yourself in long or moderate replies, but definitely if your post history is filled with one line replies then it just goes to show you're not contributing to the community

Most times one needs to expantiate on their thoughts and shed more light on it,its impossible to do so in just one Line, that's not to say every long reply makes much sense,it all matters on the content of what is being said

It´s not a censorship.

You can still spam around and nobody will bother you. You just won´t get any merit lol

You have the right to spam "good project", one-line bullshit, a wall of texts, or similar stuff everywhere, but no one has the obligation to give you any merit. This is not censorship, this is just common sense.

Merit is something that other users reward you for helping them. It´s not censorship. lol

I've got your point, but for me I really don't care how short or how long anyones posts as long as they have sense and it helps to the one who is asking. We are not here to compete who is the better commentators but we're here to learn and to share our knowledge to others.

User can make good&quality posts and still not get merit or get just a few. Sometimes users just post in wrong boards all the time, and some merit sources have such boards on ignore for obvious reasons. Therefore the chances of getting merit in some boards is very small or almost impossible.

So in order to get some merit every user should explore forum beyond some spam boards. In general you need to change the way you participate in the forum, and then you will see results, respectively you will start to get merits.

I am not a moderator on the forum neither i am enforcing any rules, censorship comes from those who have the power to enforce rules, i am just trying to help those who want to earn merit but can't. it is up to you to post however you want , even a single word post is possible on the forum.
-----------------------------------------------------------

most of you disagree with adding some words to their initial statement , but those who get enough merit for their posts know what i am talking about. it is more of physiology based theory, for example a topic where someone is asking if bitcoin is dead and your answer is just "No it is not"  , in a perfect world that's the a good answer but i am willing to bet the horse that you won't get merit for a post like that, chances are people are just ignore your post, on the other hand if your answer is " it's wrong to think that bitcoin is dead just due to price decline, bitcoin is not dead , what is happening is normal".

those 2 statements have the same answer of 'NO" in short, but the way your post looks is very important.

Neither of those two bold written statements would likely postulate to being merited on their own really. Adding words just to make the post longer, without providing a further depth to the arguments being provided is rather pointless, and can easy to read through on the intent.
On the other hand, taking a few more minutes to convey an idea through a larger range of arguments (and thus resulting in a lengthier post) tends to be more appreciated, not because of the resulting post length, but due to it’s content.

I would agree though that one-liners are normally not going to be merited (few people here have a certain forum’s member feline word ability and wit to do so). Even if one can normally summarise their thoughts into a short simple phrase, arguably giving some details instead of tautologies strengthens the points one wants to make.

Perhaps instead of "type some bullshit" to extend a post’s length one could suggest to think it through a bit longer, and add some more relevant content (at the expense of time).

1- Don't be a 1-liner shitposter
even if there is nothing much to say , just type some bullshit to fill in your actual words.

A post is not subject to have a bigger size or length in order to become constructive or merit-worthy, but the content it stats makes it one. Dragging your answer purposely from only a sentence to three or four would only make it look worse if you don't have any extra points to add into it.

2- Don't post  China great wall text

nobody has got the time nor the mood to read 30 lines for the same person unless it was Satoshi explaining  how to get free bitcoin.

What I said in answering the first quote applies for this as well. The size or length of a post depends on the nature of the topic being discussed, and as long as your post makes some sense and is properly constructed, no matter how large it is but it would still get the attention it deserves.

3- stick to simple format

don't use capital / bold / kinder-garden like colors / weird ICO symbols on your tittle.

There is always a way to use something, otherwise it would have never been created at the first place. Using these attributes/properties would only make your post look ugly if you use them in the wrong manner. Otherwise, there is no harm in using them if you know what you are doing.
About the title thing, you are right. Using anything extra in the title doesn't really make it look better or attract readers towards it. The text in the title is what the genuine readers see before opening a thread.

I also noticed most merit dont come from posting in a thread but from starting one. It is expected that a new thread should be informative and interactive than just for the sake starting one. Some post dont demand looking up at all let alone joining the discussion.

That doesn't mean you should make new thread everyday. In my local board there are several threads worth reading from start to the end and almost every post there is very informative, therefore get a lot of merits, even bigger than the OP. So the point is the post quality, and if you find that your post are under merited, you can post it on review threads.
