Your case is quite unclear to me. Can you describe a little more?
1. Are you trying to make a transaction, or are you receiving a payment?
2. What's the transaction ID?

It is not possible to cancel a Bitcoin transaction, so just in case you're the one who made that transaction then it's 100% your money is lost. If you're supposed to receive the Bitcoin, then make sure to use escrow to make sure you'll receive the exact amount of your deals.

I opened a transaction on localbitcoin.com. I traded and amazon for bitcoin worth 0.033 which was on escrow. After my payment I marked transaction as paid but instead of getting the o.034 on escrow I got 0.00042

The OP really is not making sense was it an online or offline transaction?
Why did you not just get bitcoin from exchanges that is functioning in your country?
Or is this a scheme to get sympathetic help from members of the forum

have you checked out what the "fee" rules are on localbitcoins.com?
I am not using this platform but there is always a lot of fees involved with platforms such as localbitcoins. there is an escrow fee and there is a withdrawal fee which can eat through a small amount although it shouldn't be as high as $120
https://localbitcoins.com/fees

make sure that the values you are seeing are in bitcoin not in something like mBTC or uBTC and you aren't missing a couple of 0s

I think the escrow service fee ate up most of the bitcoins you bought. Can you check what percentage are they taking for the Escrow service? Normally all the buying and selling transactions are free on localbitcoin.com. Also check if you used the correct URL for localbitcoin, because people have reported that there are phishing sites that redirect you to the wrong site.

Where does Amazon come into this equation? <Did someone on Amazon refer you to localbitcoin for this trade?>

It doesn't seem right to use localbitcoin.com-style platforms. And as his friends have said, you should read the rules very well on such platforms. Moreover, sometimes escrow charges can be very much there.

I don't know what is the real happened in the transaction which you had made. It is not clear also if you have someone to transact with whether with your friends or what. Then, you also need to show us here the link record of your transaction ID so that we may know what's the the real things happens.

The charges on local bitcoin are free.
This is the agreement of the transaction :
Contact #34990796: Buying 0.03454249 bitcoins for 200.00 USD with
Buying from advertisement #839351 (Amazon Gift Card Code) by sunshinebitcoin at the exchange rate 5,789.97 USD / BTC.
Instead of getting the 0.03454249 bitcoin after bitcoin have been released from escrow, I got 0.000049249

I've never heard of a blockchain bug in a bitcoin transaction. You didn't specify in the thread links to the transaction and screenshots. Please fill in and then it will be more clearly and reliably visible to the transaction. What's your wallet address ?

Well the TXID shows that your wallet should receive the exact amount, have you contacted LBC's support?

You can never retrieve any of you Bitcoins once you have sent it to another address, but I guess there are some tech guys who can trace for where it is.
