Now that the auction is over, I have a noobish question...

This is the ~3rd or so "VIA" auction I've seen.  What's up with that?  Outside of these forums, hardly anyone I know trades or discusses VIA.  Plus its a coin with ~$120,000 traded daily (which is nothing)  Huh.  So yea, just confused over the obsession.

I can only speak for myself, but I began using Viacoin for transactions here in collectibles during the log jam in the mempool back when the bitcoin blockchain was being spammed.  This was around the !bcash! fork.  Transaction fees on bitcoin network were getting quite high, making smaller trades not feasible with btc due to the fees.  A group of us just started using Viacoin for the fast confirms and low fees and it worked well.  Viacoin has a solid team behind it and it solved a need for low fee quick transactions.

Viva la Via!

To me VIA is more like a collectable coin. And as LC said it indeed has a few usecases like cheap segwit transactions and so on. Interesting mining algorythm as well, which keeps the network hash rate relatively high and makes it not so prone to 51% attacks.

Cheap and fast to use. Those of us frustrated with BTC long wait times and high fee's found the coin (well at least that's how I found it). It has some of the most advanced tech behind it and a low supply. Lightning atomic swaps segwit smart contracts in the future with RSK. Also founded by some of the OG BTC devs (btcdrakk and andreson i believe). The coin will rise to the top with LTC and BTC. Just a matter of how and when. The community will catch on eventually.

Close but it was Peter Todd. He joined the Viacoin development team to work on OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY, which is needed for Lightning Network/atomicnswaps. Viacoin actually was the first cryptocurrency to integrate it.

Just reviewed the charts... Jesus you Via guys have withstood an epic drawdown. $7.00+ to ~$0.30 today... might just have to buy a bit here.
