Damn that sucks mate, i usually have a notepad in my laptop about which tokens that i hold and always check it time by time. That's why i always remember which coins i hold. Well too much coins is also not good like what you said, because sometimes you can't forgot about the coins that you hold.

this is one of the problems of holding too many coins, you lose track on them and then you lose money. what i suggest is to make a reminder for a weekly/2 weeks checkup on the activities and updates of the coin you are holding.

That situation with "miss  swap and lose your coins" is very painful. Of course investors should keep eye for their coins, but i still think it is unfair. If you spend money to buy this coin you must have opportunity to swap  tokens whenever you want without any time limits. That will be fair.

If a lot of coins you have to follow the social networks of all projects not to miss anything important. And if at the same time you have also the main work that time catastrophically isn't enough.  It would be much easier to have 3-5 coins in the crypto portfolio. But this is not our method  Grin

It is very important to invest only in few in projects in order to be able to monitor the activities and growth of them in order not to lose site of them which may be disastrous because things can change in a twinkle of an eyes in this space.

It seems to me that you need to invest only in those coins that in the near future will have a very big success.
Many coins can be lost in your wallets due to forgetfulness and you can lose them forever.
Sell shitty coins and invest in the future.

Tell me about it. Learnt this the hard way and since then, I've most kept only a few that can be easily tracked. From the one that tops my list due to it's prospects to the the ones I hold on to for the profit only, I can count with the fingers on one hand  Grin Grin Grin

Personally, I keep a close eye on the money I invested a lot of money with. In fact, I always try to follow all of my assets. I guess you are not closely related to the market.

This is a very bad experience you just got. This goes to further buttress the point that the swap of a thing should be done at the holders convenience. The token project team shouldn't expect every investor to follow their social media all the time.

Although this thread was months ago, I can still feel the pain of OP by losing 0.3 BTC because of the chain swap.

Price of bitcoin when he posted this was $4k x 0.3 = $1,200.

How about computing the value of it now? $8k x 0.3 = $2,400.

Just got doubled, ouch!

When you hold altcoins, always be updated and check the updates and news about it to avoid this incident.

I know the feeling as I have few coins that went in that route and forgot what's going on with them. I have a lot of altcoins and tokens that I need to revisit their thread as well. There are coins that have been swapped but following those altcoins is really pain in the butt. You really need to create a file and list all your possessions and update it once in a while. Otherwise, you will lose those coins and will be left bag holder with crap.

It's a costly error, but you can still ask the dev to ask for coin swap even if it is late, but if they ignore you cannot do anything it's a lesson learned that you must track all your portfolios, this is only for all investors that you keep track all your portfolios even, once a week to keep you updated.

This is one of the reasons why an investor must always follow the news and new developments hitting the ecosystem of the coins in their possession. Some coins do the swap automatically without holders having to perform any task whereas others to the opposite. Always make sure to check on the new developments on your coins at least every month.

It must be very painful to lose 0.3 BTC, but don't worry, take a lesson from your loss so that your sacrifice is not in vain

That's ridiculous, man. Sorry for your loss.
I also had faced the same issue back in 2018 but I was lucky that ny investment was approx 0.05 BTC there, I was not aware about the swap.

True, this is what you must do. So if something important happen, you will get notification about that on your telegram group or even your mail. When i stored a coin for a long time, i will always follow the telegram group about the coin and also always update the news so this incident will not happen to me.

Good advice, thank you. This is so true, we can’t monitor all the coins we have and keep up with the swaps. Can’t the developer team do something for you? Try contacting them and see whether they can do anything or not.

I agree, 0.3 btc is a lot already maybe someone from their team can actually help you recover it. Anyways, thanks for the advise though I was planning to buy other coins but good thing I didn’t buy them yet. I thought it would be easy to own a lot of coins, thank God a got to read this now I have to weigh things first and decide for the better.

For some people they will eventually forgot the coins they own if they have too many but for me it will never happen because I always keep track of all coins and tokens I own in my wallets using blockfolio
