So, as you guys know, most coins will do swap when they perform blockchain upgrades or changing the coins to to a new coin

I just forgot about one of my coins and the swap was ended in the 31st of December
and guess what?

I just lost 0.3 btc because of it
God damn this is so painful

Been holding the coins since 2 year ago in the ICO stage
Never make such mistake guys remember
That's ridiculous, man. Sorry for your loss.
I also had faced the same issue back in 2018 but I was lucky that ny investment was approx 0.05 BTC there, I was not aware about the swap.

Thats why i always for 100% follow the projects i hold coins/tokens for . Don't know how you guys manage Crypto holdings , but thats wrong not to follow the ones you holding . There is always a big chance project will swap contract or tokens for new ones . Always join telegram , discord , twitter or whatever they are using . And never miss a swap again Smiley

Although this thread was months ago, I can still feel the pain of OP by losing 0.3 BTC because of the chain swap.

Price of bitcoin when he posted this was $4k x 0.3 = $1,200.

How about computing the value of it now? $8k x 0.3 = $2,400.

Just got doubled, ouch!

When you hold altcoins, always be updated and check the updates and news about it to avoid this incident.

I know the feeling as I have few coins that went in that route and forgot what's going on with them. I have a lot of altcoins and tokens that I need to revisit their thread as well. There are coins that have been swapped but following those altcoins is really pain in the butt. You really need to create a file and list all your possessions and update it once in a while. Otherwise, you will lose those coins and will be left bag holder with crap.
Those lessons should be remembered, learning from the experiences of others. Specially if the money involved came from your hard work so take note of that before leaving your coins forever.

Just keep yourself updated so that it won't be wasted whenever the devs of that coin starts to upgrade.

I never bought a lot of coins.  Because they are difficult to control.  Maximum 5 coins.  I have always divided my capital among bitcoins and a few altcoins that I really trust.

I would not agree with your opinion, because every self-respecting investor always reports on his investments in order to understand how much he earned and that is why the number of tokens you bought does not matter, you just need to put them in the table and just follow the market.

Good advice . Keeping track of all scattered investment is always a big deal. He tendency is that after sone time we are bound loose track mire especially for those coins that did not do well initially. I think the fewer the merrier

It is not even a good investment decision in this cryptocurrency world to invest in many projects because monitoring them won't be an easy task. As for me investing in like 5 projects that seems solid is moderately cool and it will be very easy to monitor them.

This is bad news
Unfortunately currency news should be monitored periodically, as currency changes are always occurring, which is not good for long-term investors

Well I think your post stray mildly away from the topic.. Buying much coins is a good thing in my opinion.. Portfolio diversification can guarantee some level of financial security if properly handled.. The only problem is that it becomes lot more harder to keep tab on Than simply investing in just a few.. Sorry for your loss mate.. I think you should make it a habit to from time to time check on the projects u invest in so as not to make this sort of loss in the future

How on earth that happens, that's a really huge loss and how come you forget about what you invested into or maybe you are the type who are not fully into crypto but just here for investing for the future, for someone like me i at least check my wallet twice a week. Again there should be a telegram for only your investment coins and Twitter to know every news going on about them.

It is really what you say. The amount of coins we have sometimes makes us forget about the coins we hold. I also experienced it, I held a lot of coins which sometimes made me forget what coins I had. Usually that makes me forget because I used to save the coin because the price is not good and now when the price is good I forget if I have the coin. Finally I lost the opportunity to get a good price. I lost the opportunity to make a profit. This often happens to me so I have to be more careful when playing crypto currencies.

your fate is very bad. buy coins and hold them for a very long time. finally missed a lot of important information.
I'm lucky when I bought a BNB, I didn't miss the information when there is a notice to swap. Imagine if I have the same fate as you, surely I will experience a big loss.

coin price movements that continue to occur suddenly are indeed not a good decision to monitor many cryptocurrency projects because the exact time that will not be enough to do it all, the right choice should not be too much or a little in monitoring the project and only monitoring projects that could potentially continue until the future.

In that case I think you must do like an old style of business. It is the taking down notes like before business man do. Every product are going to list and it's quantity. I think this is the best thing to do to avoid lost of your coin and make it organized. Don't take a limit in buying and holding coins because it is business the more variety, the more income.

This happened to me too. Sometimes I don't care about the coins I invested and stays away from the market for months. Sometime I forget about buying a coin and keeping it in some exchange. I've even lost 2FA of a couple of exchanges and can't get in.
So, it would be better to use a few exchange and keep your track of investment. If you needed to use a different exchange, keep a written note about it.

I saw your thread and I remember I lost a lot of money with 2 coins and they don't exist anymore
You are totally right, best to stick with fewer coins and follow then
I will never do this again, I'm staying with most know coins and if I buy a new coin I'll read some new at lest once a week

At least I learned the lesson  Undecided

I have also suffered that same problem on several occasions due to my interest in participating in a multitude of bounties and airdrops, since it is difficult to closely monitor all projects when you have more than one hundred of tokens in your portfolio, and most of them are nothing but spam.

That is why I have learned to be more selective with the projects in which it is really worth investing or collaborating, because when one is committed to the potential of a project it will always be important to closely follow the development of the product and all the updates to come.

Yes, you are right that having a lot of coins sometimes forget. There are my coins that swap but my coins remain not lost. So you have to actively check the latest information about the coins you have. With many have coins the chance to get a lot of profit is of course wide open. But you should also be able to move quickly when looking at the pump market situation.

I think to solve this problem, and he needs to make a list on the excel file or notepad and write down all of the coins he has so he can always monitor the movements. Or he can also install one app on his mobile phone, so he can watch the price up to and down, and he can set the alarm to stay connected to the exchanges. Having too many coins will be good if he can get the right coin, but if it's not then yes, it will make him confuse or forgot his coin list.
