Zold is an experimental non-Blockchain cryptocurrency for fast micropayments. It was invented and implemented by Zerocracy in order to bootstrap the revolution of management in software development (this blog post explains better). The cryptocurrency is in LIVE mode at the moment (there is no "test net"). The first transaction has been sent on the 27th of May, 2018. It is written entirely in Ruby at the moment. Alternative implementations are welcome, the RESTful HTTP-based protocol is open and documented.

Most important principles of Zold (read the White Paper for more details):

  * No Blockchain
  * No general ledger
  * Proof of Work
  * Lightweight nodes (possible to run even on a mobile phone)
  * Detached offline payment processing
  * Centralized root wallet
  * Taxes instead of transaction fees
  * Zero-trust nodes
  * Full anonymity (no tracking of IP addresses)
  * Pre-mined with 2 billion total capacity
  * Master and edge nodes

To get a wallet online and start receiving and sending ZLD payments, go here.

To host a node and earn hosting bonuses (in lieu of "mining"), read this manual. ATTENTION: Only Linux, FreeBSD, and Mac machines are supported, Windows doesn't work at the moment.

Read the White Paper to understand the technology (there is no blockchain!).
There is also Green Paper if you want to skip technical details.

ZLD is traded at: alterdice.com (add your exchange here!)

Media about Zerocracy:

The architect: @yegor256

We need your contribution:

  * Multi-language SDK implementations: Ruby, Python, JavaScript, Java, PHP, Go, etc.
  * Extend the network by new nodes: /health
  * Invest into us, here is the investment offer
  * Donate to the project by buying ZLD coins, read instructions
  * List ZLD in your exchange (we will help with integration)
  * Test our software and report bugs to this GitHub repo

Important links:

  * GitHub
  * Telegram
  * Our blog

Hello friends! I am here to answer your questions and ask mine Smiley
Zold crypto has got no blockchain and it is 100 times faster and cheaper than BTC.
What do you think of non-blockchain cryptos?

Must have zld to set up a node?Is there a video (Set Node Guide)?

There is no video yet. however if you want to start a node, join Telegram group and ask questions. There are people who can help. Me, for example) Anyways, you can read Github docs for details. Or ask right here.

To start a node, you just need a 2 CPU server and thats it. It could be a VPS. No ZLD needed or any upfront payments of course. We are enthusiasts Smiley

can't mine, only buy !

Quote
Zold is a cryptocurrency with a mission. It doesn’t have Airdrop or Bounty programs. We created it as a catalyst for the revolution of software development industry, Zerocracy is leading. There are only three possible ways to get ZLD.

First, you can fund any project managed by Zerocrat and get an equal amount of ZLD. Say, you donate $512 to one of these projects and immediately get 512 ZLD to your web wallet. We will identify you by your GitHub user name.

You can even donate to Zold Ruby core project itself, just click this button and pay via Stripe:

 Click to donate via Zerocracy

Second, you can join one of the projects managed by Zerocrat as a programmer and receive ZLD for the tasks completed. At the moment we give away ZLD as a bonus on top of every dollar you make in Zerocracy. If you are a good and disciplined programmer, you will make a few 2-3 thousand dollars (and ZLD) every months, working part-time.

Third, you can host your own Zold node and collect taxes and hosting bonuses. This page explains how to do that. If your node is powerful enough (more than 4 CPUs), you will earn 2-6 ZLD every day.

Here are options.

1. You can fund any project managed by Zerocrat and get an equal amount of ZLD.
2. You can join one of the projects managed by Zerocrat as a programmer and receive ZLD for the tasks completed.
3. You can host your own Zold node and collect taxes and hosting bonuses.

Option number 3 is just like mining. But different.

If you speak Russian, you may find my expert opinion about 51% cryptocurrency attack interesting: here I explained for RBC what kind of threat it is and why Zold (our experimental non-Blockchain cryptocurrency) is less vulnarable.

Thank you for the information inside the link on ZOLD technical aspect.
By the way, this year is important for the ZOLD team to build up the project and make their ideas on fast micropayments come true.

We 4x our fund, you can see the current rates here: https://wts.zold.io/rate

It's still pretty small and our deficit is around 5 BTC. The plan is to remove the deficit in the next few weeks and start increasing the rate of ZLD regularly.

Blockchain revolution is coming? I don't think that's an accurate definition of what the world needs now. Blockchain is one of the first implementations of a "decentralized zero-trust data storage and processing" technical and business concept. It is a great implementation, but it's not the only one and definitely must not remain the only one. We need more of them, for different business cases, like voting, messaging, package tracking, dating, you name it. Applying Blockchain everywhere is just wrong. Those who are calling it "Blockchain revolution" is doing all of us a very bad favor.

Watch this newly published video about that.

I published a new blog post about taxes in Zold. Hope it will help you understand how they work in Zold and why we invented them, instead of using a more traditional transaction processing fee.

I just published a new blog post that explains how you can make profit out of Zold investments. Remember that aside from making yourself a good profit you are helping Zerocracy, which is leading the revolution in management and software development. Technically, the profit you will get is coming from the business Zerocracy will make, using your bitcoins (to attract strategic venture investors). So, by buying ZLD now you are lending bitcoins to us. We promise to return them with an interest.

We introduced a new feature: PUSH and FETCH operations now have a special attribute --retry, in order to attempt HTTP operations a few times, if nodes are not responsive enough.

There are minable cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum and there are pre-mined ones, like Ripple and Zold (our own non-Blockchain crypto). We've had a discussion about which one is better for the economy and for the users. Here is my answer/opinion (it's a YouTube video). Long story short, I believe that pre-mined currencies make more sense, business-wise. Watch it.
