You're advertising cryptocurrency to a community and of course you will not just like going to advertise it somewhere without the target right? and the best way to promote a cryptocurrency with a lot of niches are here in the forum, there are different ways in order to promote it here:

First thing first, you should make a good product before advertising it. After that, you can either advertise here or to the masses through mainstream media like Cointelegraph etc, but of course you need money to do this.

But just for precaution, it is hard to determine how effective your advertisement (either on this forum or mainstream media) will be. So don't throw away your money continuously, make sure to have a fixed budget for advertising and if that budget runs out but you still have small customers, probably you should start updating your product then.

Since Google banned crypto related ads people have to find alternative ways to advertise. People above mentioned few good methods to do that. Most common methods are defined in second post of this topic but also I have 3 uncommon with examples :
I see flyers in streets when I visited Barcelona this summer. Most of flyers are around some cryptoshops and places that are related with crypto trades available.
Another advertisement method is appearing in a movie scene for a few seconds. This is a little bit expensive but a strong method for someone who is interested with coins.
Also using social media popular crypto guys/girls has another stronger effect much more than social media bounties.
Methods are above uncommon because you need to work on it a little bit more than the common ways and you need a little bit more money I mean fiat for them.

I'm pretty sure that Facebook has banned crypto related ads just as Google has? It happened a bit less than year ago, if I'm not mistaken. So any paid ads will not go through on Facebook and some other social media websites anymore, so I guess that makes it a bit harder to reach the target audience via social media now.

I would suggest starting by building a community. Whether it be cryptocurrencies or a regular business, success doesn't usually appear overnight. Behind every overnight success is years of unseen hard work. If you're providing useful services, information or content with real value to people, they will naturally spread the word for you. First, grow your inner circle of diehard fans, then they will tell their friends or people that may be in need of the same service.

After all, how much can you really advertise as one person? But if you grow your user base, they will act as free advertisers on your behalf, allowing you to create more useful content.

Yes, having a strategy means having a clear goal in which you can base your strategy on how or where to advertise and when is the best time. As you have stated about projects without clear goal failed is very true. If you have a project then what is the purposenof your project then you can think of your GOAL afterwards.

But before advertising the first thing that is needed to taken care is to find out where is your target audience lies( off course, I assume you have created a good product).
