I think its impossible.
More on this, i think it should be impossible since there would be MASSIVE confusion who is who  when users would change names. Tracking who is who in community would be so much harder also.

Im not sure you can have two accounts here, probably not. Best move here is to as you sayed get used to it or ask to delete old account  in meta section (need verification) and then create new one because you just started your journey here .

You have to become a VIP member to be able to change your user_name.
But you have to know that the VIP membership costs 50BTC.

There are some few cases of name changes in the forum

Recently there was one from local Portuguese board which had his name changed to avoid being mistakenly identified as someone from bitcore developer team.

Those are rare cases which requires administrator attention. As you have 2 posts, it's impossible and not worth trying

You can't. Only Donators/VIP users (cost 10BTC and 50BTC respectively) can change their username.

Also, theymos does that sometimes (if he agrees and has the time for it).

There were some users that were granted to change their usernames before.

But I highly doubt it that theymos will have time to change yours.

VIP’s can add a custom title, but I believe Donators (10BTC) and VIPs can both change their display names, which is what OP is I’m sure referring to when he says username. I say this because I have the ability to change mine.

Its not possible. I think you just need to create new account.

It seems like the new user isn't ban evading and is just having trouble remembering his/her old username so I think he/she is still eligible to create a new account as it is a cheaper alternative compared to becoming a VIP or donator. If you won't be constantly changing your name I think creating a new account is the best option for you OP.

This got me curious if you will be changing your name will your old name "OgNasty" be available to be registered to a new user? Or your previous name will just be stored just for you so that you can re-use it? Because if its the former I don't think its a wise decision on changing your name when your name itself has a good reputation in the forum and is involved in a lot of transactions.

Got it. I actually knew that but mixed up the permissions for each donation group.

I think that it is indeed reserved and made non-available to new registrants. Back in 2016, achow101 changed his username from "knightdk" (see Account name change: knightdk --> achow101).

Now if I:
-   Search for knightdk in @Piggy’s full database dump, it renders no user account.
-   Search for knightdk on the forum Search for Members it returns achow101.
-   Try to create an account with knightdk the I get an error message stating "(knightdk) This name is already in use by another member."

Bu the way, this is a case that is an exception for being neither a VIP nor a Donator.

Go ask theymos if he agree to change your username to the desired username you want but don't expect too much of no expense will be required for the changes in your account but if you don't want any cost at all then it's impossible to change your username. If you really want an accouny with the desired username then the best choice will be to create new account for it to happen. Take Note: Creating new account is highly discouraged in this forum but it's not against the rule and sometime when creating account it needs you to pay a certain amount if your IP is used in evil ways even if it's not.

I have been following this topic and I must say,  I'm disappointed that I can't change my username from the replies I have read above unless I become a donator/vip. Before now,  I was thinking about changing my username from CryptopreneurBrainboss to just Brainboss. Guess I'm stuck with that and the next option (creating an alt account) isn't the best either. I understand that it's for security measures so I'm not that mad about it. Just hoping maybe Bitcointalk will grow to a stage just like facebook and twitter, users can change username even though it's a one time event.  Fingers-cross

Actually most forums I know of don't even allow changing of usernames due to complications.

Your account is 1 month old and only has 3 posts (all 3 are in this thread, where you asks to change your username).

You literally have nothing to lose, so why don't you just create a new one?
