The Crypto Cosmos decks recently arrived! See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5068739.0 for all info.

Now, I checked every single deck, and unfortunatelly 6 of them have a flaw: The box is not engraved. Personally I like the smooth look, I wouldn't even say they look worse than the one's with engraving. But it's a matter of taste.
I will either keep these decks myself and/or ask for a replacement by the manufacturer OR have them distributed randomly.

If you purchased a deck, you are eligible to vote how we proceed. Voting will end this Friday at 9 a.m. NY time / 15:00 p.m. Berlin time.

Your options:
A) I keep them myself / get them replaced by embossed decks (if possible)
B) distribute them randomly by me selecting a bitcoin block to start (similar to a raffle) and then letting the last two digits decide which number will be an un-embossed deck. This will be repeated with the following blocks until all 6 error decks are distributed.
Since there is a total of 256 decks, this would work perfectly. So if the number is E0, we would have 14 x 16 + 0 + 1 = #241, Other examples: 00 would be #1 (0 x 16 + 0 + 1), 59 would be 5 x 16 + 9 + 1 = #90, FF would be 15 x 16 + 15 + 1 = 256. We need to add 1 to all calculations, since the counting of the decks does not start with 0 but with 1

Personally I vote for B) since it reminds me of the coin-flip orientation/book-turn orientation (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5063985.msg47680503#msg47680503), and adds to the collectibility of the decks. However I am fine with whatever the majority will decide of course!

You can view an image of the un-embossed decks here: https://i.imgur.com/boyhnQT.jpg

B. Definitely is better option. Couple of suggestions.

1. Raffle for 36 slots(1-9, A-Z) last digit of the txid.(eligibile for people who already bought the decks. Limit 1 slot per person)
2. .001 entry for each slot(slot 1 for 1 person(to ensure u make some money back or atleast for shipping  unless u are getting refund from manufacturer)
3. Choose a block number and go with 6 consecutive block numbers and award the guys u bought the last digit, incase there is duplicate, u can go with the 7th block and move forward. This is just to ensure u have 6 unique winners.
4. Benefit I see from this:
    A. Buyers are getting incetivized.
    B. U have 6/36 winners. Lot better chance for anyone to win than one in 100 or 1 in 36.

Phew - that was a lot of typing from phone, i hope it was worth..

Good luck with ur decision.

I think you should change that unfortunate circumstance immediatelly.  Wink

Okay, a clear tendency towards B has emerged - btw, if you don't want to cast an A vote publicly, you can also send me a pm.

I thought about Agrawas suggestion. I don't want to charge anything extra. Also I would prefere a fair distribution to any deck buyer or potential deck buyer in the future. 36 slots or similar is difficult to distribute among all the buyers, especially since some purchased 1 deck and some purchased up to 10 decks.

That's why I'd propose the following:
- The six decks will be raffled to a random number from 1 - 256 by using the last two digits of six (or more if there is a repetition) block hashes of the Bitcoin blockchain. So yes, the chances of getting an ERROR deck are slim (a little less than 1:43 for each deck bought) but if you do win, it's something really special, also this seems by far the fairest way of distributing them
- If someone isn't happy with potentially receiving an un-embossed deck it will be raffled again, increasing the chances for all others that would like a chance to get one of these. So prior to shipping I would confirm with the buyer that she/he does indeed want such an ERROR-deck

Okay, I will wait until tonight to hear some more opinions and - given there are not a bunch of A votes coming in soon - then select one BTC block to start the show. Smiley

Totally down with B.

Will be a nice addition for anyone to score one of these decks alongside their purchase.

Okay, let's start with block #558825
https://blockstream.info/

Rules: as stated above: the last two digits determine the "winning deck" - meaning this deck will be an error deck.
UPDATE: Ok, if an unsold deck "wins" it will NOT become an error deck. Instead we will run the next block until an already sold deck wins.

I think this is a fair compromise to reward early buyers but still have a large pool of decks that can be selected.

Also, if you won and don't want an error deck you have the right to "put it back in the raffle" - meaning you will get a normal deck and the error will be raffled off again in the same manner.

Btw: I have to say... the chances of hitting 2/2 decks are incredibly slim, lebnor. WOW!

Will send out pms now asking everyone if they want to keep their error-deck. - If someone refuses their error-deck I will call another block to go for that deck.

Wow definitely glad I grabbed 2 decks as it will be nice having one of each.

Just wondering, is the plan to swap boxes, and still have the stamped and numbered card and sticker for #55 in/on the un-embossed box?

Thanks again really looking forward to seeing these in person.

Yes of course, I have these errordecks and they will be distributed in exactly the same way as the other decks. The only difference is the missing embossing.

Funnily enough, the first deck I took out of the full charge was one of these. I was like "whaaaat - they did it not emboss - all the xtra work for nothing?" So I checked all decks, and luckily it was only 7 decks (one that I keep myself - I opened it already).

I could only imagine the horror at first. Glad it all worked out in the end.
