For me, this is too far to be true. It is not just that easy to claim to be much more better crypto cyrrency than Bitcoin. Even how bad the current status of the Bitcoin crypto currency in the market, people still uses and believe in it as the King of the crypto currency community. Leading the crypto.

This is a good news for the cryptocurrency industry and we can see that blockchain technology is moving forward to advancement that adaption of this technology is becoming a reality to the economic industry. We should be knowledgeable that new form of blockchain technology will emerge in the future and more faster than bitcoin. Though we have still must consider the technology that cryptocurrency started from and that is bitcoin. The hash of bitcoin is too great that even the most advance blockchain technology right now must take couple of decades to overtake bitcoins hash rate.

I agree that there are coins with faster and cheaper transactions. However, I am not sure whether it's due to technological impovements or simply because those coins are used by a smaller community and the network is a lot smaller.. The exception is coins built on DAG, of course, but they have issues before they gather a sufficiently big active community. I mean, sure there's such a thing as transaction speed and it's known how many transactions per second a specific crypto is able to handle. However, we cannot be sure whether it's actually possible in practice, since, for instance, some critical bugs may have not been discovered yet, because the network never had to deal with such things. This crypto of professors is not even launched yet, but who knows, maybe it will attract a big amount of users.

There's always the matter of what compromises they had to make to achieve that speed.  As a loose analogy, there are vehicles in the world that are much faster than the one you might drive, but not all of them are practical for your needs.  Anyone who truly understands cryptocurrencies will know that there are multiple factors to consider, not just how fast a coin reportedly is. 

Will it be as secure?  What privacy implications will there be?  Is it open-source?  There are numerous questions that need answering before I can see this project as anything other than baseless hype.

You can have the best technology in the world but without advertisements and a strong community the coin will essentially be worthless.  Bitcoin has such a massive advantage because of its first mover advantage.  I see so many projects claiming to be the new bitcoin but it never works out and most likely never will.

Projects that claim to scale with many transactions per second are centralized.  A centralized database for crypto is pointless, the whole purpose is censorship resistance.

If transaction speed was an issue, a bunch of other altcoins would've reach a mainstream status and bitcoin woul've been buried at the bottom of the charts. Truth is that not everything is about speed, it's about trust, how much the community and the general public trusts a cryptocurrency, it's about decentralization, it's about privacy...hell, if speed was the issue then people (merchants or the average btc user) would keep using paypal or any other instant payment gateway.

When a centralized project claims to be faster than any crypto, ask yourself: Why don´t I use visa?

Visa is more reliable than any centralized shitcoin.

You should use bitcoin because it is decentralized, cannot be killed, has no CEO, and is uncontrollable by banks countries or whatever..

If it turns out that this project was successful, I doubt that Unit-e will outperform bitcoin in terms of community. Because, society is one of the important components for the progress of a project

There are a lot of cryptocurrencies that are faster and have lower fees etc. But that is because those coins are much smaller and have less users than Bitcoin and the network is much less loaded and can work easier and faster. If those coins were the size of Bitcoin they would collapse and crash. That is why Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency.

They need to beat first the xrp and eth before they claim this and for sure its not gonna happen because bitcoin is meant on the top position and there is no centralized coin to beat a decentralized, people are more knowledgeable now about cryptocurrency so they will not invest on a hype coin.

How can anything be 20x faster than Bitcoin with the Lightning Network? They are comparing Bitcoin <without the Lightning Network> to their distributed ledger technology and that creates a false representation of the actual speed of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin with the Lightning Network offer users almost instantaneous transactions and to be 20x faster than that would be impossible. They are also not saying if this technology is centralized or decentralized or permissioned.

By definition of almost any alternative altcoin, every single coin is faster than Bitcoin. What's the point of making an alternative if you can't be faster? In direct comparison of a cryptocurrency (as opposed to a dapp platform, for example, like Ethereum), altcoins have a higher TPS, either through quicker block times (usually) or larger blocks. But in the end, security requirements nullify these advantages.

1 confirmation is the standard for Bitcoin. Know any alts that are accepted after the same # of confirms?

They want to create a cryptocurrency that will be faster than Bitcoin; well segwit is already helping with that. They should understand that Bitcoin is popular and always dominating because it's the first 'realistic' digital coin in which every other crypto is emerging from the concept so beating it will be quite hard. Though, I do like to see what this Unit-e will be like.

This is a very strong application, which is hard to believe. Rather, the creators of this "quick coin" themselves made a false impression for themselves. But in fact, it is not about speed. Bitcoin is hard to beat, and I think it does not compete with anyone. It’s not a matter of quality, but of the flow itself, and the ability to brightly advertise, to teach yourself the way the other cannot.

There are more than a thousand crypto money in the market that claim to be good or better than Bitcoin. Every new money boasting. But let me remind you, none of them have ever come close to Bitcoin!
