Suggestion about merit system

First of all, I want make it clear that this is a complementary proposal to the merit system.


I see so many people that they still doesn't have merit with more than 100 activity or some people have more than 300 activity but they haven't even 5 merit. I think at least they deserve to be a member rank.

So my suggestion is very simple: exchange our activity with Merit.  

The rules of exchange are very simple:

1-) 5 or more activity = 1 merit

2-) can be a limitation for size of exchange, for example, you can't exchange more than 100 activity.

So they can be at least a member rank.

If they deserve Member rank then they will get it, eventually.
If their posts are good, then they will be rewarded.

Why should we propagate high ranks at a great frequency? The point is for them to mean something. You don't expect a Sr. Member to have minimal bitcoin knowledge, do you?

Please consider @Tman’s suggestion seriously. What you state denotes that you are rather confused about the Merit System, and do not understand why it was set in motion in detriment of the Activity based system. If everyone could post their way through to Member rank as before, then what would be the point of merits?

Merits have two basic goals: reward decent enough posts, and limit ranking capabilities for profiles that do not create that sort of posts. We could go on about ranking speed to a certain extent, but that is another matter.

So this means people will invest in raising their activity and then use it gain merits. This would no different from the previous system where only activity was the yardstick for ranking up any account. Merit was introduced to stop farming these account to rank up ultimately ending up in signature spammers or being sold.

Merit does what was it was intended to do. Give a recognition to the people who contribute. The only problem here is that merit sources dont visit boards that are active with redundant posting.

100 activity and still 0 merit ?
No offense but they must be doing something wrong.
Unless they're only here for bounty campaigns (which basically means to spam), there's no reason for them not to earn at least one merit. And if their English isn't good enough, they can always post in local boards. This is a place to talk about cryptos (mostly Bitcoin), not a place to make money thanks to shitposts.

This is going the exact other way as it was intended.

Everyone can gain activity be it by shitposting or making constructive posts, while only the latter stand a chance to get some merit.

IF your idea was to be retained, the ratio would have to be at least 200 activity for 1 merit

Just have a look at how many account are around with 500 activity and 0 merit.

This makes zero sense. If we had such system, then what's the purpose of having merits to start with? Might as well make activity tradable and remove the merit feature. Merit should only be earned through legitimate and decently constructive topics/replies, and nothing else.

If certain people can't earn merits, then it's mostly because they simply don't deserve it.

Lol, this is the funnies post I have read this year.  In OP's mind when creating this topic, he was writing one hell of a post that'll earn him the merits he thinks he deserve. I just checked user post history and he's a local/off-topic board poster. Could be someone suggested to him if he posts about merit on meta he'll get some. Lol 5activitiy =1 merit 😂  even those that receive the airdrop early last year didn't get that much

Rules (Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit) have been planned and implemented in advance from the beginning, cannot be changed again, you should just follow the rules in the forum.
If you want to be ranked member or legendary, for topics or ideas that are meaningful, Merit will come to see you.

No, they aren't. I haven't think the way about it when I get a 100+ mark activity. Please don't think about it that way, DdmrDdmr is an example of it, from being a brand new to Hero Member now in a few months, he earn his merit it even just few weeks the merit requirements has been implemented by theymos.

TMAN already guided you, "can you please do it", I really mean the redundancy of the italicized word so that you'll be guided accordingly too.
