Since cryptocurrency is not regulated at this moment, the developers of the team can scam anybody who invests in their project if they want to. Aside from this reason, another reason is the team didn't collect enough funds to fuel up their project ending up scamming people instead of giving back the money to the investors.
There are many scam ICO's last year and I think it will continue this year.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Some ICOs just did not collect enough money for the further development because of the bad market conditions, so they did not make any product, but the most scam projects were created with the only goal - to steal money of investors.

I see a lot of topic regarding the status of icos right now my opinion regarding this issue is because of market down that effect the status of icos.
Last 2017 is the best year for icos because most project are success and have a good product to introduce in the market but last year we encounter a lot of icos project because its easy to collect money by doing fake project.

Due to the last bullrun many ICO became successful ,even hardcaps are met easily and this is why ICO as became a target for scammers since then ,many ICOs this days are backed by con artist pretending to have something to offer just to gather funds and run away with it,investors needs to be on look out for this scammers

2018 was a bad year for the crypto market. In the chaos environment fraudsters emerged. Scam projects have produced a lot of people who have lost hope. And a lot of them got the money and disappeared. The longer the bear season, the more likely it is likely that the scam will increase.

I saw since last year lot of ICO's was scammed and project not true. So this situation ICO investor's are not come to cryptocurrency market. Why that project scammed please info anyone??
What happened was that the scam was done by the scammers to take the investments into the ICOs from the new investors, this is why they did pre ICO with low values to make them think of getting the best bargains. |

when was the last bull run occur ? its not last year but it was on the year 2017 but the previous bull run are not the reason why there are now lots of scam failed ico's . whats the real cause of them is the poor market condition where investors are discourage to invest to think that crypto might not recover . but its not the end of the ico's . i believe that ico can also recover together with the recovery of the market . |

I can be sure that 97% of ICO projects are fraudulent and it is difficult for new projects to survive because people are frustrated with waiting and there is no accuracy in investment. I think ICO will soon be replaced and it is happening at this time when the IEO is being talked about more by people and it will soon make the ICO a garbage dump. |

agree with you that indeed the big possibility is a big problem that is happening nowadays where ico is not really serious in developing and too fast. they can also potentially leave That's why research is mandatory for everyone before trying to invest in the ico. this was happening so many times and i guess they must learn a lot from that. Just try to not pick the suspicious ico. Mostly, scam icos created used a fake identity. |

In 2017 the price of cryptos went high so ICO investment also become very popular and millions of money poured into new projects so whcih get attracts many scammers to do the same thing by creating fake site and fake team just because they also want to make that millions in easier way.
Indeed. Because of the popularity of ICOs last 2017 scammers got an idea to go with the flow and launch the same projects and scam the investors. They take advantage the hype of ICOs to gain money. Currently we are in bearish trend and its hard for the ICOs to reach even their soft cap. I think when bull run occur then thats the time we can see the return of new projects offering something. Just be careful and dont invest without doing a background check. |

most of them take advantage of the situation, when the bear market is not over, they are looking for as many investors as funds and then running away because they are not launched token for reasons of low exchange rates. but actually there are still projects that are trying to wait for the bull run.

Of course for fcking tons of bucks Altough the project is real The bear will continue eating a fresh money came to market. And also most of investor on ico seems and probably totaly not understand how fluctuactive altcoin. |

There is no exact reason because a scammer always wants to scam people's money! It is the bad people's nature! The crypto market has many noobs and non-reader users who don't read things and easily get involved in a scam project! So, some smart scammer came out with a good looking website and some team member and then they scam people's money! But people are very smart now and that's why there are very few scams ICO project at this moment and ICO market is almost dying!
It is like real-life counterfeiting. The only difference is that you oppose the law by printing counterfeit money, but it is a little different in here. Because there are states behind paper money. |
