Hello fist excúseme for my english my native language is spanish

i need import my multisignature wallet (2-3) created in copay an i need open in  electrum, because i need use the founds, copay has a limit to 20 gaps and wih code im  generated a lot of wallets fot a private payment system, now i can see a funds located in a address generated by my xpubs, my wallet have a 12 words in spanish and when i introudce in electrum the balance is 0 im use the 3 seed and no funds.

when i put the xpub i can see the funds but i cant sign because generate only watch only funds.

Thanks for your help

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you find the xprv's? You'll have to try and use those if you can.

You can't use the seeds because one it bip39 and electrum doesn't use that by default so the easiest way to do this is to use the xprvs.

You're probably better off making a new wallet and transferring the funds to that however.

I have not tested this method... but theoretically, you could import the 3x seed mnemonics into 3 different Electrum wallets, using the "BIP39 seed" option... DO NOT set a password.

From each restored wallet in Electrum, you should be able to get the xprv by looking in the unencrypted wallet file (hence the requirement to not use a password)

(Alternatively, you could put the 3x BIP39 seeds into https://iancoleman.io/bip39/#spanish and then copy the xprv from the "Account Extended Private Key" textbox. I suggest you download the sourcecode for the website and run offline if you want to use this method. Instructions for this are at bottom of the webpage. Personally, I would recommend the Electrum method.)

Once you have the 3 xprv's, you should then be able to create a MultiSig wallet in Electrum using these 3 xprv's... (which should hopefully match the addresses in your Copay 2-of-3 MultiSig wallet.) and which should let you spend as you meet the 2-of-3 requirement.

Again, I have NOT tested this to see if it works as I don't use Copay.

Did you get the xprv from copay or electrum?

What derivation path did you use if its electrum. If its copay, it's likely your funds are stored in a change address and I'm not sure how to deal with that in that case.

Did you also import them under the multisig option in electrum?

Are you sure that you've restored it as a multisig wallet?

Example:

If it is a multisig address, Electrum's title bar should display "[2/3],[3/3],[2/2]" depending on the number of required signatures and cosigners.
If "standard" or "imported" it's not multisig.

Because, in my understanding, you only have one SEED and copay have the rest, you only got the the xpub of copay's SEEDs for view-only purposes  Undecided

<Edit If you happen to have all the SEEDs>
when i put the xpub i can see the funds but i cant sign because generate only watch only funds.
This will happen when you choose "Use Master Key" and pasted just the xpub of the three cosigners.
What you need to do is to make Two(2) Electrum Wallets hodling each of the two seeds to be able to (2/3) sign a transaction.

It needs to be exactly 3 Cosigner and 2 Required Signature, changing the wallet's cosigner settings will generate a different set of address (I've tried it just now).

Ok... I have tested my proposed method... and it works... so here is a (very) long tutorial with pretty pictures! Wink

EDIT: Ok, follow Abussamad's advice below... and use the seed option, just remember to change the derivation path to m/44'/0'/0' for each seed!

EDIT: Nothing below here is required if you have the three 12 word seed mnemonics from Copay

I setup a Copay 2-of-3 MultiSig ("Shared Wallet) on my PC, Android Phone and Android Tablet. Within the shared wallet, you can go into the wallet settings and "backup" the wallet, which will show the 12 word seed mnemonic for the Shared Wallet (by default, each wallet in Copay/Bitpay has a unique seed mnemonic!):

Test Mnemonics:
Code:
C1: wave prepare bargain report grit print concert frame crumble huge muffin soccer
C2: lamp spawn vault route news silk rescue kitchen endorse glance steak half
C3: joy noodle local forget spawn mass biology blood slogan bounce poem labor

Now, you will have to convert these seed mnemonics to xprv's, because I tried creating the Electrum Multisig from the seeds and it DOES NOT WORK! (even when selecting BIP39!!?! Undecided)
https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/15/zggt8.png

So, what you need to do is, for EACH of the 12 word seed mnemonics that you got from Copay, you need to get the xprv:

"File" -> "New\Restore" -> Create a unique easy to remember wallet name, for instance I used "C1", "C2" and "C3" -> "Standard Wallet" -> "I already have a seed" -> click "Options" -> select "BIP39 seed" -> Enter Seed, click next -> Select "legacy (p2pkh)":

Then click next and DO NOT ENTER A PASSWORD! - This is important. If you enter a password, the wallet file will be encrypted and you will not be able to read the xprv when you open with a text editor!

Repeat for the 2nd and 3rd seed mnemonics that you have.

Now you need to find the wallet files... on Windows this will be: %AppData%\Electrum\wallets

You can press Windows+R then type %AppData%\Electrum\wallets and press enter:

Read here for other operating systems: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#where-is-my-wallet-file-located

Open the wallet files you created (eg. "C1", "C2" and "C3") in a text editor. Find the "xprv" entry:

In my test, I got the following:
Code:
C1: xprv9z6wrTdpY8WckVuYGaEJ9Tf7Vh3F5gxAfY8DkpKtJpaohTqzMfpp5knnBSjHWHJqPPcvx5A3TUK3vJoyPg3XQM4X6BKGicQaS6HJq1kDwG3
C2: xprv9yfftpKXHzYJfHusuqTduj1jSmrvq8pkyWmjB1SPe7BautSQKHBB8MXXdAYVuicF8BxHbaecALBRNa3pxL2DhKTQxrPXvy29DDU98VoDXVK
C3: xprv9xkfbLeG4tavLfoCPrgWcQWVTDmCA8AM234GQZYysHQmFVkA17zekz84nUqr1GUz8XE78S5RWBbQkaQrvC3eFvnVcwdN1aaeovan3nX6wTP

If you are in a hurry, you can get the xprvs directly from Ian Coleman's Mnemonic Converter: https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

This means you don't need to import the seeds into Electrum and create the standard wallets etc.

Simply put the 12 word seed mnemonics into as the BIP39 Mnemonic:

Then scroll down to the "Derivation Path" section, make sure to click on BIP44, and the xprv will be the "Account Extended Private Key"

NOTE: do NOT use the online version of this website with LIVE seeds/xprvs... you should download and run the converter OFFLINE (instructions are at the bottom of the webpage)

Now that you have the THREE xprvs, you can actually create the clone of the Copay MultiSig in Electrum:

"File" -> "New\Restore" -> call the wallet something like: "CopayMultiSig":

Then select "Multi-signature Wallet":

Then set it to be [From "3" co-signers, require "2" signatures"]:

Now, VERY IMPORTANT... select "Use a master key", Put in the "C1" xprv and click "Next":

Ignore the Master Public Key and click next, then select "Enter cosigner key" when asked to "Add Cosigner (2 of 3)", Put in the "C2" xprv and click "Next":

Then repeat the same process for "Cosigner (3 of 3)" using the "C3" key:

This will then create the MultiSig wallet in Electrum, that will have addresses that match the addresses in Copay:

At this point, you should see your transactions and funds... and be able to spend the coins (as your Electrum wallet has all the private keys in it Wink)

Restore from seed does work. Choose multisig wallet and then 2 of 3. In the seed entry step click on options and check bip39, enter the seed and make sure once you've done that it says 'bip39 checksum ok' next to the options button. If it doesn't then check the spelling and order of the words. In the next step select "legacy p2sh" and enter this derivation path (single quotes matter):

Code:
m/44'/0'/0'

Repeat this for each seed. That's all you have to do.

@HCP the derivation path is where you went wrong. Copay uses bip44 for multisig wallets as well.

Yelp, if I understood correctly, you did download and run the files from the fake links, right? If so, you got scammed and there is nothing else you can do.

I can not understand how then I received this notification from the electrum wallet! No single virus detected on computer! Is it still hacked by the electrum itself?

Can you release on e of your multisig addresses just to check.

The virus is in the download as that box is sent from the server. As you'll notice that's electrum.cf and not electrum.org.

The electrum software was hacked and someone sent a message through that system as its a rediculously easy vulnerability to manipulate. I really hate these cheap scams.

If you have any more bitcoin. Get a new computer before doing anything with them...

Tell me how to write to the moderator 'ThomasV'! I write that I can not write to him because I'm new!

Talking with ThomasV is useless. Let me explain what happened.

A hacker found an exploit on the Electrum software that made possible showing fake erros messages for users connected in specific servers hosted by the hacker. The “please update to version 3.3.2” message you saw was fake. What you downloaded from that link was a fake Electrum wallet that automatically sent all your coins to the hacker’s address.

Unfortunately, you can’t get your coins back. Bitcoin transactions are irreversible and your coins are gone. Not even ThomasV can help you. There is nothing anyone can do. Sorry.
