With the current state of the market is it wise to spread or consolidate my portfolio. I truly believe that there will be a consolidation down the line among projects with similar use cases. Though it is very tempting to spread out as token are so cheap atm.

There's no best answer really, we all have our own perspectives. When considering moving from one crypto to another it is often useful to look at price history of the coin vs BTC. BTC often leads the market with alt peaks and troughs not exactly aligning with those of BTC... which means price movements of alts relative to BTC are somewhat cyclic. So it can be useful to buy an alt when it is at a low vs BTC. This is obviously less important than the merits and prospects of the project though. It's just one method of gaining perspective.

Consolidating? you mean putting all your eggs in one basket? you need to 'spread' or diversify your investment in crypto's.
It's always recommended that you don't stay to only one type of coin or investment but if you're going to combine your crypto investment, it's also good but be wise of choosing a coin that's worth it like bitcoin.

you should not even have a "portfolio" to begin with, if you ask my opinion.
a "portfolio" is something you use for diversification which is done correctly only if you invest in assets that have lower risk but higher reward and most important of all "assets that are not connected to each other". we all know that in the altcoin market when the dumps begin, all the altcoins dump together so when you have 10 or 100 or 1 altcoin, that doesn't make any difference you are still losing the same way if not more!

I think in crypto currency, you must and have a thorough research, and that will guide you that you have to own more than one crypto currency in your portfolio. it is not tempting to spread out token, it is the best decision just ensure to make valuable purchases to your portfolio by doing your own research on each token.

I would go for diversification among different 'categories' of cryptocurrencies/assets (e.g. utility vs. security tokens, PoS vs. PoW, different business areas, ..). Btw. nice post among all these similar 'tell me if I should buy XRP' threads

people much smarter than me has said that we need a "purge" before we can continue, and I fully agree with that. if you invest without really knowing what you're investing in (like, really knowing, not just "oh it does x"), then it might be wise to invest in different projects. otherwise if you have firm belief and true reasoning behind your investment, stick to the one.

IMO, it is good to spread your portfolio and invest in a few types of coins. In this way, the risks are reduced. True enough, prices of coins are very low and attractive atm, it is a pity not to pick up some coins.

THere is no doubt that cryptomarket will grow in long-term. But for the nearest time it's really hard to predict the market situation. As for me, It would be better to consolidate your portfolio.

I think that at the moment it is necessary to keep, as the market is likely to rise a little more before you fall completely. I plan to sell and after to buy. When the market falls to the bottom and Bitcoin will cost less than $ 2500, then I will invest in cryptocurrencies and wait a long time, as most likely the market will move into the consolidation stage.

It is always as a matter of safety to ensure you diversify your portfolios at all time. Most especially, buy different coins whenever there is a sharp price drop in the market.

It is wise to spread your funds into multiple wallet and to multiple coins to have a safe investment. Because consolidating it on a single coin puts your investment on a big risk.

neither. you should instead "close your portfolio" because what you have is not really a "portfolio" you have the same thing with different names that is moving as one and you are not only not decreasing the risk you are taking but instead you are increasing it by having many different altcoins! when the dumping comes, you lose all your money and you have no way of preventing that because they all dump together and they dump big and fast and unless you are holding all the shitcoins on exchanges (which is not wise) you won't be able to sell.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

If you're a pro trader you can move your consolidated funds around quickly following the news and catching the pumps. Otherwise, diversify with dapp, privacy coins, bitcoin of course, and a small amount of speculative shitcoins

Spread or diversification might mean the same, but I prefer that much in compared to consolidation. Why? Diversifying your money will make you earn profit and you might get some fortune if some altcoins that is included in your choice just get some bull run or some uptrend hike.

As long as it is a project with potential to become big, I guess it is good to invest. I think it is not a matter of how many coins you have but the quality of the projects you invested in.

And it much better caused by it can decrease the potential for us to get a huge loss. I'm using it right now and whatever how much i can get from my portfolios as long as that does not give me a lot of risks and I'm about that. So many people are spreading their money to a lot of portfolios.

One of the principles of risk reduction in financial investments is spreading of the investments into different classes, this is applicable to crypto investments however with the current state of the crypto market one need to carefully select the best projects among others to invest, i don't believe in much consolidation

It has the potential but it can just be a hype beginning and at the middle of that project it will start to dry. I think it is not a matter of how many coins you have but the quality of the projects you invested in.
Sorry but it does matter on how many coins you invest, what if most of the coins you have are totally worthless?

I truly believe that there will be a consolidation down the line among projects with similar use cases.
what will happen soon is that a lot of the altcoins that are similar to each other will be replaced by another newer and better altcoin that does the same thing. for example all these smart contract platforms sill soon be obsolete because they suffer from a lot of issues.
