Zimbabwe is showing the biggest surprise of this World Cup. They are performing incredibly well. They were able to defeat a giant team like Australia. We thought it was an accident. But Zimbabwe also won against Sri Lanka today.

Sri Lanka gave a target of 179 runs. This cannot be called a small target. Even then, Zimbabwe won the match losing only 4 wickets. Sri Lankan bowlers could not take any advantage. Experienced bowlers like Maheesh Theekshana gave away 47 runs in 3.3 overs. Dushan Hemantha could take two wickets but he gave away 36 runs for 4 wickets.

Game was high power mental fight, though both teams had already made it to Super 8s, Zimbabwe, still, was able to get goal of 179 down with only three balls left. 178/7 of Sri Lanka was helped by Pathum Nissanka who scored 62 run, hitting 41 balls and Pavan Rathnayake who made the extra push with 44 runs but needed strength to get the win was given by captain of Zimbabwe Sikandar Raza who made 45 runs out of 26 balls and the not-out Brian Bennett who made 63 runs out of 39 balls. In my point of view Zimbabwe is able to handling pressure in Colombo and this is clear sign that they are real danger entering Super 8s.

Today's match is important for Afghanistan because they have already victory 1 match and got 2 points and if they victory today's match then they will have 4 points and will be in third position which can help them to go ahead. Canada team is enough weak and they will not be able to go ahead due to their negligence. In the Men's T20  World Cup West Indies defeated Italy by 42 runs. West Indies opens inning first with Brandon King and Shai Hope and among the openers Shai Hope gives a positive start to the team by scoring 75 runs and also King losses his wicket early on 4 runs and in middle order Rutherford played a aggressive inning of 24 runs and also Roston Chase played a defensive innings of 24 runs and at the end of the innings West Indies set a very strong target of 166 runs.

Italy opens inning with Justin Mosca and Anthony Mosca and among the openers Anthony give a very positive start to the team by scoring 19 runs but Justin losses his wicket early on 2 runs and in middle order JJ Smuts played a well knock of 24 runs and also Ben Manenti played a well knock of 26 runs but at last Italy don't chase the target successfully and scores only 123 runs and West Indies won the game by 42 runs.

For Netherlands, the player of the tournament was Bas de Leede. He scored a total of 158 runs, at an impressive average of 52.66. His highest score was 72 not out, which was scored against Namibia. The strike rate was also impressive, at 139.82. And while bowling, he picked up 5 crucial wickets at an average of 19.60 (economy rate of 7.84). Bas was born and brought up in Netherlands to Dutch parents, unlike the UAE and Oman teams (which are entirely consisting of foreign citizens). Netherlands were very lively in making India work hard to get victory but they could not run well between wickets hence they had hard time in catching down the huge target of 194 runs. Although Michael Levitt hit four fours, he scored only 24 runs out of 23 balls, which removed speed of team and placed more pressure on rest of the batters. On big field, in Colombo, Dutch team focused too much on hitting ball out of field other than using calm and sure way of changing singles into doubles by steady way. Fielding of India was great and number of no run balls on Dutch side was high which showed that though they can hit fours and sixes, they lacked smart running which was needed to beat world team. This 17 runs defeat proves that it is almost impossible to catch big number against India when you are not doing much and getting scoreboard moving with each ball in play.

I am surprised to see the improvement of Zimbabwe players. In this tournament Zimbabwe have beaten teams like Australia and yesterday they beat Sri Lanka, which was at Sri Lanka's home ground. However, yesterday Sri Lanka scored 178 runs which was not a bad target, but Zimbabwe was able to chase the target easily. Sri Lanka was in great form, they won the first 3 matches but lost to Zimbabwe yesterday. Zimbabwe are unbeaten in the group stage and were at the top of the points table, where Australia and Sri Lanka were. The match between Zimbabwe and Ireland was abandoned, I think Zimbabwe could have won if the match was not abandoned. Anyway, Zimbabwe will play India, South Africa and West Indies in the super 8s which will be challenging for Zimbabwe. But good luck to Zimbabwe.

Anyway, today will be the last match of the group stage, the match will be between Australia and Oman. I think Australia will win this match.

Due to pre-tournament seedings, Group 1 of the Super Eight stage will have all four teams who topped their first-round groups unbeaten , that's why pre seeded fixtures doesn't work ..what's the point on being undefeated if you're gonna face other top teams in super 8.

Well... I am OK with that. Due to the heated political climate surrounding the tournament, the scheduling had to be done very carefully. If the pre-defined seedings were not there, then there will always be confusion related to the venues. For example, if Pakistan ends up in the same group as India, then the venue has to be moved to Sri Lanka. ICC has done whatever they can do in their capacity, although it is not that perfect. These small things aside, the tournament has been a roaring success so far, with record viewership and gate collection (and this is despite the last minute pull-out from Bangladesh).

Pre seeding or not, how could they possibly end up in same group again when top 2 teams from every group are supposed to go in different groups anyways?

Pre seeding is good for scheduling and gives surety to fans in case of planning but it's deeply flawed and disincentivize teams that performs, i means where is the benefit of winning 4 matches on trot and topping the group? It weakens the competition hugely and penalize the top performers.

Afghanistan is a good side but they are out of world cup because they were not able to beat South Africa and New Zealand. Ibrahim Zadran was unlucky to miss his century by just 5 runs, he remained not out on 95 runs while his strike rate was 169. Canada team played there 20 overs but scored only 118 runs. Canada team was not able to win any match but they got a chance to improve there cricket by playing in an ICC event.    

Afghanistan has won their last game and their journey ends here. Such as disappointed year for them. They tried their best, their team is so good even against South Africa couple of super overs, Gurbaz four sixes in a row at Ahmedabad Stadium in Super over, great effort against New Zealand but still this time hard luck for them.

Despite their continuous good efforts Afghanistan could not make it to the World Cup for long because they won against Canada but it was not enough to advance.They should have won important matches especially against South Africa and New Zealand.Afghanistan batted well against both of them but could not bowl well due to which they had to leave the World Cup which they will regret.But they should strengthen their bowling line so that if they compete with anyone again it will not be difficult for them.The top team in Group D is South Africa because South Africa has not faced defeat yet.New Zealand can give South Africa a tough time and leave them behind.

Nobody expecting that Afghanistan International cricket team will be out of the tournament at the first and people were thinking that this team will qualify for the super 8 because they are called as second best team in the Asia and Rashid Khan gave very proudy statement about semi final qualifications and he said that his team will qualify first for the semi final but that was the first team which was the out of the out of the tournament. They are focus on the performance but not on the statement and that is the only reason they could not play well in this tournament.  South Africa is very strong team which is the group in which Afghanistan team was present and  New Zealand was also good side and played very excellent against Afghanistan International cricket team.

Afghanistan batsman made target of 200 runs in 20 overs by losing 4 wickets. Ibrahim batsmen batted so well in opening and he made 96 runs in 36 balls and hitted seven 4s and five 6s. Gurbaz also helped team to win this game and played good with Ibrahim and he made 30 runs in 20 balls and hitted five 4s. Canada batsmen failed to win this game and he chased only 118 runs and lost game by big margin 82 runs. Nabi bowler bowled brilliantly and he took down 4 wickets in 4 overs and gave 7 runs. Congratulations Afghanistan on winning easy and one sided game but they lost this tournament.

Australia won by a huge margin in the last match of the World Cup. But even then Australia was eliminated in the first round.
Australia lost against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. They won against Oman today by 9 wickets. Oman was able to give a target of only 105 runs. Australia reached the target of victory by losing only 1 wicket. Mitchell Marsh was unbeaten on 64 runs in just 33 balls. Besides, Travis Head played an innings of 32 runs in 19 balls. If the batsmen could have batted so well against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, they would not have been eliminated in the first round.
