Pakistan lost by small gap of two wickets to England, so close to being kicked out of World Cup, and England to semi finals. Though top scorer Sahibzada Farhan got 63 runs, his slow speed in batting, along with Babar Azam getting slow 25 runs, meant that Pakistan could not get to good goal of 164 runs, not even after Shaheen Afridi took four wickets.
I like your idea of strainer to clean up team because numbers show that young players are hitting much harder in local cricket but it is being missed by slow hitting old players who are badly used. Despite bowlers having given small bit of hope by getting early wickets, they failed to stop Harry Brook during his hundred which showed that team lacked toughness one needs when playing big matches. At this point, it is time that Pakistan gets huge win against Sri Lanka on February 27, after which it can have any hope of staying in the cup.

LOL.. true. Harry Brook scored 100 runs, before getting clean bowled by Shaheen Shah Afridi. All the other England batsmen made a grand total of 62 runs (with Will Jacks scoring 28 and Sam Curran making 16), and extras contributed to 4 runs. Overall, around two-third of the England runs were scored by Brook. And from what I saw during the match, Brook was the only England batsmen who managed to counter the spin of Usman Tariq. Usman picked up two important wickets (those of Tom Banton and Sam Curran), but yesterday he went for almost 8 runs per over.

In fact, in the T20 format, a batsman can change the conditions of the game, which we saw in this match. I will agree with you that England is not in its best form at the moment because we saw yesterday where almost all the batsmen failed, only Harry Brook's survival allowed England to avoid a win here and I don't think England could have achieved anything in yesterday's match.

The target of 165 runs was not enough to win against a team like England. If pakistan could have collected another 20+ on the scoreboard, maybe they could have won the match. Even then, I will not say that the pakistani bowlers did very badly. England won this match only because of an incredible innings by captain Harry brook. Babar Azam was playing good but not with good alignment. He was trying his best to have boundaries but the ball was not coming in radar and against Overton he tried it on the leg side, the shot and the timing was 100% perfect but the alignment was not perfect. There was no bounce in the ball and this leads to failure of Babar Azam. He made 25 runs.

Then Fakhar Zaman arrived, it was his first game in this World Cup, which is why I was expecting something great from him, but he could only make 25 runs. These Pakistan boys lost wickets when they got settled.

Amazing captaincy that Sam Curran bowled a single over early in the power play, where he did wonderful and great bowling, then the captain understood what to do next, he gave three overs to Jofra Archer early and saved Sam Curran for the death overs.

When Pakistan batsmen started to smash, including Farhan as well as Fakhar Zaman, then Sam Curran came back, and at that time Pakistan felt like they were struggling again. That time it was an important thing for Pakistan to have boundaries because their score was not so good at the start, but the smart captaincy by the England captain was really appreciated.

I will not blame bowlers for this defeat because they have done impressive job in these conditions here also going to praise Harry Brook who single-handedly win this game and brought his team into top four. 165 has never been easily defendable total, Pakistani batting has never been on track from the beginning.

Pakistan selectors now have time to bring good number of changes and also focus on batting department which is their main problem throughout this World Cup.

Now it's interesting situation because right now Sri Lanka is hosting New Zealand while here Kiwis are looking favourite to win this game especially after two poor results for Sri Lanka against Zimbabwe and England, their moral is down, and they are going to face another defeat against spirited Kiwis.
