Lately I've been looking into the possibility to create a Shopify account to sell some stuff. And there is the possibility to accept payments with cryptocurrency through Coinbase. But I'm not sure if it's the right move since I want to use Facebook Ads to run my campaign and I'm not sure if this is allowed since the Facebook has banned Cryptocurrency Ads. Or it doesn't apply to this case. Does anyone have any information on this?

Remember that Bitcoin is still beta software. Don't put all of your money into BTC!

AFAIK, you just can’t advertise ICO/cryptocurrency related websites, but there should not be any issues on advertising a website just because it accepts cryptocurrencies as a method of payment. Just don’t make this the main point of the ad.

Indeed, just focus on your website's product to sell without mentioning that it is a cryptocurrency shopify and there is a payment system where you accept cryptocurrency as payment for the product they buy. Just stay positive and i'm sure you can spread your website and sold your stuff.

That's exactly my thought but I don't want to have any future issues since there is this option to pay with cryptocurrency as well.

Just stay positive and i'm sure you can spread your website and sold your stuff.

If your product is crypto related or ICO's Facebook will never allow your website to advertise on facebook but if your product is not related on ICO or crypto they will allow your site to advertise on Facebook.

They release this new Policy last January 2018 due to many ICO scam project and they receive lots of complaints about this ICO and "Binary option". That leads to all ICO projects rejected on Facebook advertising.

Since you are selling a thing or digital product and you are just using crypto as your mode of payment I think it's fine for them to advertise your Shopify Shop. Just make sure that you read their advertising policies to make sure that you follow them correctly.

It's not ICO related. I will accept EUR as my fiat currency and I discovered that I can accept cryptocurrency as well (btc, eth, ltc) going through Coinbase. And I don't mind to accept crypto. But in the Facebook Ads I was thinking to specify that alongside Fiat currency I will be accepting CryptoCurrency as well. On my short search I haven't found people accepting crypto on Shopify (I'm sure there will be someone though). I'm not promoting ICO or register to get 10usd or anything like this. But the doubt passed my mind

Facebook banned crypto related advertising on their platform. Just to be safe, don't mention crypto on the description of your ad.

Just to be sure try to keep crypto out of your ad description or view since they might get you banned solely for that reason.

Use general wording like "pay with fiat or other currencies that you like". It is not directly talking about crypto and it cause some short of curiosity to the readers, which will know what you're talking about when they visit your shop. I believe this won't cause any problem with Facebook Ads policies.

IMO there will be no issues for just using crypto currency payment method for a website. Basically facebook stop approving the ICO & crypto currency related ad. But there's lot more websites accepting bitcoin as a payment method but they working fine.

To clarify you can visit worlds famous domain and hosting provider "Namecheap" website and they accept bitcoin as their payment method. They are using fb Ad regularly for their customers without any hassle i think.

Since what you are advertising is not an ICO it should be OK. But to be on the safe side you might want to contact facebook about it before doing so. Also, you should know that facebook has partially reversed its cryptocurrency ban. Some advertising is allowed but ICO ads still aren't.

Quote
Social media behemoth Facebook Inc. (FB), which had banned cryptocurrency advertisements earlier this year, has partially reversed its position. In a post on its site, Rob Leathern, Facebook product management director, stated that the advertisers wishing to place cryptocurrency-related ads on the service would have to submit an application to an internal team that maintains a list of pre-approved advertisers. The application would ask them to detail specifics relating to the product, such as whether it has been listed on a public stock exchange or whether it has obtained licenses. Ads for binary options and initial coin offerings are still banned on the service, however. (See also: Facebook Bans Ads For Cryptocurrencies And ICOs).

That's really interesting. It will be very helpful to see what the others are doing and understand what to do and don't.

Thanks Pmalek, I'll give a look at this as well
