Basically what kills the coin is a death of hype and liquidity around of the coin. Hype and the possibility to buy and sell the coin are two things that make the coin to stand out of the crowd. When people don't know that the coin even exists and have no possibility to sell it for some other coin, the coin could as well not exist.

They have no reason why they are listed in cmc because they have a money to used and to enter their coin in cmc but traders of the coin gonna decide to so lot of them have no volume.

not only that but the dead coin is a coin that is not developed anymore from the project, so there have been a lot of coins dying because it was not developed anymore and less interested too

As I observe some of the coin that list in cmc is some coin that doing air drops only or some that no ICO. And some coin now after listing they run away.

90 of altcoins will dead in 2019 and 2020
last year coins without projects are shilled and make big pumps. in this 2 years they will come 0 value.

Your question really makes sense, coins die because there is no trading volume on the exchanger for the altcoin.
but actually CMC has acted to remove some dead altcoins from their list. maybe you don't know it yet.

A coin is declared dead by simply lowering its value into zero. If people doesnt want to invest into that coin, its value will decrease until its not profitable enough. Most of this altcoins are those who doesnt that useful or those coins that are considered scam.

Sometimes it does not mean that the volume is zero the project can be declared dead, some of them shift on focusing development rather than trading volume at the moment. And it's very good CMC removes dead coins. There is no point in the existence of coins that no one trades. They are useless and there is no need for them to be further listed, and removing them is the only reasonable decision.

There are even coins that are not in cmc dead.
very bad, coins don't have volume at all and I found it a lot in the forkdelta.
even I have it in my wallet.
