Ethereum has over 2000 dApps while other competitor chains currently hover around 300.
It's easy to look at this sole statistic and disregard the rest, but we need to look a little deeper.

For both scalability and decentralization to occur, blockchains must be designed to store the minimum amount of information needed to verify future transaction validity.

Can any competitor come in easy and dethrone Ethereum due to its only advantage as a first mover?

EOS can easily catch up ETH with the quantity of new Dapps and ICO. EOS just need some time in this competition.

Ethereum is the leading project in comes of Dapps and smart contracts but Ethereum have a big huge problem that facing now the scalibility and its congested network. So that's why EOS is a good choice and a good alternative as a host in Dapps and smart contracts, EOS network can process over 6000 transaction per second and the transaction fee is almost free unlike Ethereum , Ethereum network only can process over 15 tps and also a high fee in processing transactions. So I didn't shock one day that EOS get the crown from Ethereum as a king of Dapps.

I wouldn't say they are the only ones. have you ever heard of moac? dual layer technology hits on both of those points
