Everytime somebody buys my coins, I'm being paid for shipping in BTC but actually paying the postage in USD.  This is effectively resulting in me buying dollar-cost-averaged BTC.  Many orders are sizeable in shipping costs (e.g. Express/EMS shipping costing ~$40), and I'm certain I've spent a few thousand dollars in postage over the past year.  Since I don't end up selling the BTC, I've seen a nice little fortune just having those shipping charges appreciate.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

I decided at the beginning to loan myself money for some 5830's to get started, pay them off with mining profits, and bootstrap up from there. Now that mining is no longer profitable (for me) I've sold the cards and bought BTC with the cash. I've probably paid an extra $1500 in utility bills since I started, and now I've got a little under 200BTC plus some items I've bought w/ BTC over the past year.

My strategy going forward is to only spend "found" money on BTC... cash I didn't earn from working my regular job. If I sell off some old equipment, get an unexpected gift or refund, etc.  I'll convert the cash to BTC.

About € 1500.

But i sold about € 4000.

I don't mine or run ponzi's, which seems to be in fashion here.
I play satoshidice all the time and sell winnings or put them in GLBSE assets.
I play with online wallets on my cellphone when i'm not in reach of a wifi
and when i'm in reach of a wifi i play satoshi with bitcoin Qt, multibit and electrum.
I have a tendency to divide my coins in different wallets, in case something goes wrong with one of them i don't loose everything.  Also because i'm curious in development of user-friendly lite clients.
I must have extracted a few hundred coins over 6 months with a growing average of 100 to 500 bets a day.
I lost 56 on the first day though.  It was my 2nd bet ever! hear me out:
I place 54 coins on 97%, i got back 56 or something...
THen i placed 56 on 97% and.... FACEPALM!

Today i extracted 35 BTC, but i had a day off and didn't even leave the house.
On an average day i'm happy with 5.( HAHA FU miners!)
I've never been a gambler but i'm kind of hooked to satoshi, it's not really gambling, it's manual mining.
(i keep telling that to myself)

can someone write a bot for me so i can has my life back please?

$700-800 on mining hardware
$100-200 buying BTC (When it was $4 couple months back)

I don't buy anymore. Just mine, and sell. Saving ~15% of what I mine in hopes that it will be worth a small fortune in 10-20 years. Need to sell the other ~85% to pay for bills, food, college.

I´ve invested in about 180 BTC for Mt. Gox trading.
Some 30 BTC on GLBSE mining assets and 10 on pyramining.

Thinking of upping the ante on BTC.

Hmm, I have spent about...

· $100 in purchased BTC
· $130 in GPU for mining (Dual purpose for gaming too)
· $163 to BF Labs for a Bitforce SC Jalapeno

Perhaps if I get the Jalapeno I pre-ordered (which seems to have sparked a huge flame war here) I will spend more on ASIC. I'm basically a casual miner for now. I wish I could spend my BTC at Amazon and Newegg directly!

This is a good strategy....although in my case, i'll probably split "found" money between BTC acquisition and debt reduction.

I've spent 100 dollars so far, should I continue buying BTC? Smiley

I initially spent $100 a year or so ago. It's worth $300 now.

I put $100 in, have taken about $400 out, some as cash and some as Amazon gift credits, which I use to keep my Kindle full.

I spent so much on them, I figured I'd be better off buying hardware. Now I have purchased a butterfly single, and pre ordered a jalpeno. I have a 6950 in one of my compys, and a spartan 6 on the way. sheesh.

just pre-ordered a pair of BFL Jalapenos. What's another $312 in credit card debt when I just signed the papers for a $300k mortgage?
