What is Grimble?

Grimble is an anonymous PoW cryptocurrency based on the MimbleWimble protocol, with
a supply curve that encourages early investment and discourages the
extreme price volatility seen in other MimbleWimble based cryptocurrencies.

Anonymous

Grimble has no amounts and no addresses. Transactions can be trivially
aggregated. To hide where a newly created transaction comes from, it
gets relayed privately (a "random walk") among peers before it is
publicly announced.

Scalable

MimbleWimble leverages cryptography to allow most of the past
transaction data to be removed. This allows the blockchain to stay very
small,  and guarantees Grimble remains accessible for everyone.

Open To Everyone

Grimble is developed openly and transparantly. The coin distribution is
designed to be as fair, with a small 0.2% premine meant to encourage
further development, long term support and innovation. The 0.2% premine
will be used for development bounties, to reward community
participation, to compensate the developers for their effort and to
encourage long-term viability.

Grimble supply curve

Grimble has an initial block reward of 60 coins per block, with a 1
minute blocktime. After each cycle of 25,000 blocks, (slightly less than a month) the
reward is decreased by 1. The block reward is continually reduced by 1, until the block reward reaches 3 coins per block, at which point the reward remains low indefinitely to encourage
long-term viability. After the 57th reward adjustment, the reward
will reach 5% of its initial value and remain at that level indefinitely.

Please see the graph below to see the supply curve we’ve chosen.

Nice!

Do you have a Grin pool already? I must warn you, Grin/Grimble works very different from your usual altcoin. If you need any help, let us know!

logged in for the first time in months just to comment here.

I really liked Grin, but the constant block reward was a huge mistake, evidence that the coin has no desire to be taken seriously.

I know the decision was very controversial when it was made and some devs are not comfortable with the choice made for the block reward.

My suggestion: Let´s just step over to this and get an active community for this currency that might actually have long-term viability as a store of value.

When mainnet launch?

Mainnet launched privately, looks like somebody are mining "no founders premine" now:)

No pool, not fair launch. Current miners will be able to gather huge amounts. So, it's unfair launch, take care

I figured it out.

You need to enable the stratum in Grimble-server.toml and change the ip from 127.0.0.1 to 0.0.0.0. Then you can point your rigs to the ip of your wallet and use port 4416 and make sure that your wallet is listening ( ./grimble wallet listen).

No pre anouncement for miners to prepare equates to insider insta-mine.

Coupled with Pre-mine equals scam.

Actually a ninja launch is wat seemed most fair to us. With Grin, everybody and their grandmother knew the launch was coming. The network was dominated by big farms from the start making it almost impossible for small miners to find a block.

With Grimble, everyone can mine right from the start. Even though there isn't a public pool yet, you can use your own wallet as a "pool"
(it has a stratum server included) You can even rent hashpower if you would like.

If you do not understand this, I agree, it is best to stay away. Others will take your place  Wink

We're still getting a lot of questions on how to mine Grimble, here's a good tutorial if you're just starting.
Obviously you have to replace "grin" with "grimble" and change the Github URL. Port for stratum is 4416 with Grimble.

If you're still having issues, come to Discord and we can help you!

I have mined some of the first Grimbles and am looking for someone who is eager to trade them for BTC before Grimble is officially listed on an exchange. Just PM me if you want to trade, we will discuss a fair rate.

I learned in my 6 years of crypto how to detect scams from miles away.  This account I am quoting was purchased by the op and did not post for months and one day randomly posts on this scam project thread.

Be very careful when dealing with scam projects.

They did not develop anything not even their own logo lol. Seems the iq of these new age scammers are getting lower and lower.

That seems hard to believe, considering the coinbase maturity time is 1440 blocks and we're at block height 700 currently. No coins can or have been spent untill now.  Wink

Either way: it's not possible

I have a spread sheet of accounts I detect as scams and they always are.  I will bump this thread with this alt account in a few months so you can laugh at yourself.

Walk up to your nearest bathroom, look at yourself in the mirror, smile and repeat this "I did not purchase this account to bump my own scam" and maybe you will believe in yourself. Feels good knowing you, yourself know I am 100% right.

This is the last bump I will give you signing off for now and will bump in due time when your scam is dead.

That amount can be easily mined by the whole network in a day or 2. Does that weigh up against the fact that each second there is 1 Grin created, until eternity? The Grin project is great, but with the current monetary policy there is just no point in buying/mining/holding it, unless you want to sell a day or 2 later.

Grimble fixes that, for a very low price.

lol this guy copied the code that was written over 2 years by 100+ volunteers,  changed one line and gave himself 100k coins and will just leave it running without adding anything new whatsoever (except maybe copying grin's new features). Not bad for a few minutes work.

Find your grimble-server.toml in ./grimble/main and edit it. Under stratum settings, set false to true and change IP from 127.0.0.1 to 0.0.0.0

Run the wallet: ./grimble and go to the mining tab. Stratum server should be enabled there.

Now point your rigs to: [VPS IP]:4416
username: anything
pass: anything

Hi, I run node on VirtualBox and trying to mine in Windows 10 to the address 127.0.0.1:4416

What address should I use?
And what login/password should I use in miner?

Make sure your VM is in Bridge mode. Username and password is not important, can be x.

This project is needless, and retarded.
I can not disagree with you, BobLawblaw.
Both Grimble and Bit Grin are needless, and retarded.
In my opinion, they are useless clones of Grin coin.
There is the first clone coin from Grin coin.

I don't see innovative technical ideas from Grimble team, honestly.

Unless you like to watch the value of your coins evaporate everyday, Grimble is very useful.
Grin is a great project, but the with the current monetary supply this coin will we worth nothing in a few months.
I think the devs of Grimble did a pretty decent job of fixing that.

Why would anyone want to be part of this coin? There's a lot of coins with the same proposal and lack of purpose. Nowadays, launching a POW coin is expensive, and with the whole market in the negatives, is unprofitable to even mine Ethereum, why would someone want to mine GRB?

Pools are currently being built. Meanwhile you can mine using your own wallet, by enabling stratum in grimble-server.toml and pointing your rigs to [walletip]:4416.

I didn´t even know that Grin can be forked  Grin.

Very promiscuous and credible person is responsible for building the fork. I knew him from chatting in the secure dark web chat dedicated to security consulting and global surveillance. I sent him my endearment yesterday morning and received 3K bitcoins. I feel like I will soon track that Grin dude, it would be helpful in investigating what his source of wealth is.

Heh, Grin is here about one month and now we have already a fork of Grin? Cheesy

Bullshit. Maybe later i'll preview your post history to find out what other scams you endorse.

Members of the Grimble community, like you may have noticed, we have recently been targeted by a major FUD campaign sponsored by Bitgrin & co. Yes, it is true that we have been trying to sell  some coins in order to keep improving and developing Grimble. However, do not trust everything you see. Bitcointalk / Twitter is a very toxic environment nowadays, Lies, fraud and manipulation are not out of the ordinary.  The incentives are clear, bitgrin is trying to make sure their 840,000 coin "development funds" will bring them the hoookers & blow they desire. Meanwhile, our team will focus on development for now, and try to stay out of the spotlights.

If you think you can contribute, our DM's are always open. If not, all the best of luck to you.

See you soon,

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I just tweeted something about it, but it seems like you wanted to cash out the pre-mine with an escrow. A lot of scams out there, hard to trust any anon devs. I'll see where this go. Good luck with the project.

I don't know where to start.... the fact that a supposingly "community driven" project wouldn't post such announcements which are unrelated to the development and instead full of personal opinions and hatred?
The fact that you talk like a bad mannered kid?
You're blaming them for their premine when you also have a premine... though yours might be lower, I don't know because when I tried to check in your first day you had no explorer.

"SOME"? Selling 50k before every other holders and when that 50k represent 30% of the supply ain't just "SOME".  It's at BEST rude at worst scammy.  You could have EASILY wait for the price discovery phase to be over.   And that price was FAR LOWER than what you tried to get there, you literally tried to run with it and failed.

For me the worst part aint really the amount you tried to sell, but mostly the time, you hurried to dump before everyone else had the time to mature some coins, having sold 50k after a few weeks could have been understandable to some extent with good justification, but that timing was just WRONG.

That sounds like a Scam. No one in their right mind will sell coins their project at the very beginning of its launch if they really intend to develop it

So its obvious scam project? They are not serious to develop this coin I don't even find how to mine this coin.

Better to stay mining on grin than mining with this another clone of grincoin.
