In this global era of technology advancements your email can be seen as your mini office. You carry a whole lot of activities with it business, transcation, chat(some secretive) and so on.
Making it clear that your email is very important to you and if an intruder gets in it by be fatal for the owner of the email.
We are continuously giving out our email some to register for one thing or the other or for what ever purpose .
In as much as we can't conceal our email completely we can protect it from invaders

Intruders are crafty and slimy individual and come up with various schemes just to gain access

*be careful of attachment you click- some invaders poses as a business client, friend etc and sends you an organised mail attached to it a clickable link which ones clicked you get attacked by a virus that relays your information(your email, password, the browser etc) and not only that these virus can slowly damage your system so it is necessary to be vary observant and not hasty in clicking any links

*always check your spam and trash

Invaders are patient individuals and once the get access to your account the remain calm observing all your transcation you would hardly know they are there.
The also act as middle man when you are in a transaction with another individual shifting your important messages into trash or spam most time when you about to trade if this is allowed to continue you or the other person might make payment to the wrong person. A good constant check on your spam and trash can expose the intruder and make you aware.

*constantly change your password from time to time- let's say you first line of defense is bridged and they gain assess undetected into your email your only escape is if you change your password even if you have not noticed anything strange this act can keep them logged out or simply apply 2fa authenticator.

Always strive to be on the safe side scammers are on the lose

Great topic and everyone should be aware of this already. I think everyone should understand that every account, pin, passwords, should be kept private or what's better is that you get to use a password manager so you could generate different passwords for different accounts whether email, online game account, etc. One common password for everything means, one easy access to one account, and everything is already at reach. I found that password managers are helpful with that.

And like you mentioned, 2FA could add additional security. You have to make sure you don't lose your phone or something like that.

Consider using a different email address for your crypto related activities
i even made a seperate email address for the bounty related activities as i assume there is a higher chance of getting spam or scam related emails and bounties.

Since almost everything is connected with e-mail these day, it is very important that everyone have several different e-mail addresses for different needs. So you should have one personal e-mail which is used for family and friends only, and second for other online activities such as for this forum registration and similar sites.

The third e-mail should be for different sign ups, less trusted sites and sites that do not respect the privacy of the users. You will get lot of spam on such e-mail, but if you use Gmail which have very good anti-spam filters, most of spam will go direct in spam folder.

I see that many users have publicly displayed e-mail in profiles, and I think it is not wise to do that. Hackers can use such mails to send you phishing links and links to sites with virus/malware which can steal your coins. Most important thing is to not open any e-mail which is seem suspicious, and never use any link send by phishing sites no matter how credible it is.

<...>
Certain attackers use trick you to register for an account in their website. Of course, you will be using your email and password. Later on, they use those login details to try and gain access to your email and other important accounts like Google drive, since they now have ur email username. If you are the type of person who uses the same password for every website you get registered to, then you will be compromised and your email could get compromised too if the password is the same.

So it's always important to
- Use different passwords for different websites (if it's had to remember them, you can use a good password manager.
- Always use 2FA for all your important website logins and emails (most preferably use authy)

You are right.

Setting 2fa is also a good step.
Another one is to create a shitful email for Airdrops and other shitcoins stuff. Your daily email should be one , your financial email should be another one, and your shitcoins airdrop email should be another one too.

This will keep yourself safer , as hackers will mostly find this Airdrops email etc first

Not sure if it's a good advice, because if you don't use password manager or don't backup your passwords through some other means, you will most likely forget them and lock yourself out of your email in some cases. And it doesn't add that much protection - if your password got stolen in plaintext, then something is deeply wrong with your security, and chances are all your new passwords will be stolen too. Just follow the usual password security guidelines and you'll be fine - use the password that is hard to bruteforce, don't use the same or similar password on multiple sites.

I think if you change your password you can write it down in a dairy or any where else for future reference so as not to unknowingly block yourself out

I think the first step for email protection is your email account itself. Passwords for emails should always be different from your passwords being used in other websites as if you don't you literally increase the chances of hackers having an access in your account. The next one is your recovery questions and answers shouldn't be the easiest to answer that not even your friends or family know the answer as the answers for your "Mother's maiden name" or "First School" are already accessible in your social media account. The third one of course is 2fa which already have been mentioned as this is your guarantee that hackers will have a hard time on accessing your email.

Also avoid downloading any files from your spam folder as you may never know what tracker can pass undetected from your anti-virus, trust me I have seen it in the past not even your paid anti-virus can ensure your 100% hack free.

They store all your received and sent messages even if you delete them.  Also never enter your e-mail on haveIbeenpwned website because they are seeking out active emails that people actually care about.

And like you mentioned, 2FA could add additional security. You have to make sure you don't lose your phone or something like that.

Precautions can be taken to prevent this, backing up your 2FA code would allow you access it on another device should you lose your phone or PC.
Authy automatically saves your profile and can be accessed using your email and password should you lose the original device.
It's best to double check if it's backed up or something, sometimes you might think you did, but you didn't. I have those experiences where I think I thought I did it, or am I just paranoid? I do use Authy because it's more convenient in my opinion if ever you lose your phone or something like that.

Actually the HaveIBeenPwned site is really helpful, which explains the amount of spam I've received over the last few years.

I just checked recently and wow, 5 relevant sites breaches.

And how do you know HIBP is actually harvesting emails?

I think if you change your password you can write it down in a dairy or any where else for future reference so as not to unknowingly block yourself out

you should use another email or your phone no added  as a recovery method. This will help you to get access in case you forget the password of your email. As a security measure change the password monthly.
Use simple to remember but effective and strong password like "Earth7_Mars2` . This paasword has 3 special character,2 numeric character and 2  capital letter with overall length of 14 and it is very simple to remember. Increase length of password to make it more secure.

Last but not the least,  do not share your password.

I'm only tackling the importance of your email protection with my post/message you quoted so I didn't mention anything about spotting emails regarding phishing sites in your spam folder. But I think it goes without saying that not every email you receive in your account is really that trustworthy and you need to be very extra careful when it comes to spotting every detail of the email you receive especially when it is an email related to your bank, wallet, or credit card accounts.

I actually use a site called WeLeakInfo (click for link) to find out if any of my emails or logins have been compromised along with HaveIBeenPwned- WeLeakInfo actually provides information on the exact leaked details of your email and password so you don't use the same password or something similar in the future.

2FA's not a perfect solution, but you should always have it enabled whenever possible. I've stopped potential intruders into my inboxes several times many years ago with 2FA, still have it enabled on all my inboxes.

Staying secure and safe is top priority and should be done no matter the cost or what it takes, this topic is another wonderful one that helps to keep us ahead if scammers and fraudsters.
Once we are aware of such precautions,it makes it very difficult to fall prey to their scams
Never click on any link you're not sure of,that is the easiest way they can get to you
Also change passwords regularly and use different passwords for different purposes
