Addiction means your mind want something in a regular basis to satisfy the dopamine needs.

Your brain has three status of living conscious,subconscious and unconscious.In the stage of conscious your mind knows what you are doing but on other stages you may not unaware of what is happening even if you are living in it.

So if you are having some habit to make you pleasure on short term like gambling,porn or dating and other lot of stuffs will become an addiction when you want that happiness everyday.But these things is not your long term pleasure it just only meant to be short term but your mind turning it into long term by making you keep doing it very often because your subconscious and unconscious make it as a habit already since you are doing it already.

If you want quit addiction from something then you may need to change your life style and concentrate on long term pleasure like building your career or doing workouts and getting success in your business like that.

And another advice is Be with People who’s the lifestyle is better without vices,find circle of friends in which will bring you more closer to Good things than enjoying those mentioned bad habits

Always remember that most of the time people that surrounds us make big influence in our daily living and also affect our attitudes,so living with God fearing people helps preventing the possibilities of being addicted

And another thing,if you think that having all what OPs mentioned or some of those better go talk to the specialist before it’s too late

We have to know the main source of addiction, and we need to cut that into our life.

If you want quit addiction from something then you may need to change your life style and concentrate on long term pleasure like building your career or doing workouts and getting success in your business like that.
You can't quit addiction by just simply changing your life style..
We have to know the main source of addiction, and we need to cut that into our life.

You can't simply quit anything so you need to have something more concentrated on your life which can help you to forget that addiction,but not easy tho.

Try to build a new habit that different than the other. If you were often playing gambling, then you can try to go to another place, make a book of your journey, always prevent your mind from playing gambling. Asking the other people to comes with you will be better because she/he will always remind you and try to prevent to go to gambling places. It's all about how we can block the mind to think about gambling all day long and make another activity will be a solution.

It's easier said that done, mate.

The first thing that a addict should do is that admit to himself that he has a condition. Otherwise, if he is on denial, no one can help him. Yes there should be supports group like families, friends and medical help. But if refuse and admit that he is an addict then there's nothing we can do about it.

If he was able to hurdle this first step then I'm sure it will help him a lot and he/she can channel the mindsets to different thing to get ride of his addiction, it will be very hard and difficult in the beginning, but if he wanted to quit for good, then absolutely he can do it.

They will understand it's not when they loss everything.
Addiction is a disease, if not treated early, it will result to a more serious problem and it will affect your life.
I've known some people who loss their house because of gambling and it's like losing your family too.

These other steps consist of seeking professional help, if you are not into professional help then you should change your friends and find someone which will often prefer to run or another activity compared to gambling.

I wish that if it were only up to understanding what your condition is, i.e., Addiction to Gambling, it would make you easily quit it and make sure that you won't do it again, but it's not. We are people who have flaws and accepting that you are an addict is the first step. It's like what the others have said already in this thread. If only it were that easy, no one would be having a hard time in the world.

Its true but that is only theoretical thing, healing addiction is not as easy as it said in the text book, it need a big determination from the people that addicted and support from the family and friends, a small trigger may caused the subconscious mind to wake up and become addicted again, so the first step to heal the addiction is to fill your time with other positive activity, avoid completely the things that you addicted

In a minds of well decided person, self will always been a key for successful changing lifestyle, if you really desire to change back to your original self
you just need to find those things that you already doing before this habit showed up, you can start rebuilding yourself by taking the old paths where
you live free of corruptions.

I agree with you, It's not that easy but if you truly like to do it nobody can stop you but your own-self alone.

Also, it is good to listen to those people who you trust with if you want to quit your addiction to something. Quitting additction is not something that can be done overnight. You need a proper discipline on yourself if you want to quit. But for me, gambling is something that can be done without being addicted to it if you just do it for leisure.

But the problem with gambling addicts is that they have a close mindset and if you call them about their addiction, it may end up negatively to them and it will cause friction between you and that person. So it's a delicate situation to approach so you need a lot of psychology behind, before telling it to them straight in the face.

Everything you said is what I am agree with but not with the above quoted statement. Changing lifestyle is not a solution to quit addition for sure. Changing lifestyle or workout may help somehow but the main and only solution is the will power. It can either come from inside or can be built through professional counseling. If a person doesn't have will power to quit addiction, nothing will work. Only a person has gone through such addiction, will understand what I am talking about.

However, small short-term periods become long-term... I think that it is a bit of good advice to change your lifestyle if you want to quit your addiction. If you chance your lifestyle then you start doing things that you are passionate about and you forget things that are of less importance, in this case, gambling... There are many ways to stop gambling, you just have to be dedicated to doing it.

Yeah this is something that I think would actually work, but only if you're not too deep into the addiction.
Some people just aren't able to do anything themselves to quit their addiction, no matter how hard they try.

So, the only way out for them would be to seek professional help, otherwise they'll just fall into the same trap over and over again.

It is greed you should be scared of. Addiction is triggered by the greed. Without greed addiction is harmless. I mean you can get addicted to read books and that's a good thing. You can get addicted to math and that's a good thing too. Addiction is a weapon. Making it a good weapon or bad one depends on you.

Addiction means your mind want something in a regular basis to satisfy the dopamine needs.

Your brain has three status of living conscious,subconscious and unconscious.In the stage of conscious your mind knows what you are doing but on other stages you may not unaware of what is happening even if you are living in it.

So if you are having some habit to make you pleasure on short term like gambling,porn or dating and other lot of stuffs will become an addiction when you want that happiness everyday.But these things is not your long term pleasure it just only meant to be short term but your mind turning it into long term by making you keep doing it very often because your subconscious and unconscious make it as a habit already since you are doing it already.

If you want quit addiction from something then you may need to change your life style and concentrate on long term pleasure like building your career or doing workouts and getting success in your business like that.


Stating the science of addiction is so interesting. Youre actually right refarding this ine because ive read an article about this before. With the mind that causes addiction means its also the mind that can cure it. You should put in your mind how to transfer that temporary happy pill you want into long term. With this you can focus on more important things than gambling.

It is greed you should be scared of. Addiction is triggered by the greed. Without greed addiction is harmless. I mean you can get addicted to read books and that's a good thing. You can get addicted to math and that's a good thing too. Addiction is a weapon. Making it a good weapon or bad one depends on you.
When it comes to gambling addiction then greed is one of the reason to be in that situation but greed is also form of pleasure which manipulates the minds so being in control is the way to quit gambling.
