Considering how it's possible to run a Bitcoin full node within the Tor network as a hidden service, it makes me wonder whenever the same could be done with the i2p network. Many privacy coins that I know of, use the Tor network to hide the IP of the full node and transaction data. However, that's not been the case for the i2p network on Bitcoin and many other popular cryptocurrencies.

Nonetheless, do you think it's possible to run a Bitcoin full node on the i2p network. If so, any guidance on how to do it? Your help will be highly appreciated. Smiley

according to the bounties page on the i2p website, there was a bounty for someone to create such a project and someone already claimed it. i don't know how far along is the project or when it started though. you can check it out here: https://geti2p.net/en/get-involved/bounties/btc-client

If I understand what you mean correctly the answer is yes, there is a topic that talks about in this forum. "he uses a SAM bridge"

Thanks for sharing this, mate. Glad to know that at least it's widely possible to implement a BTC full node on the i2p network. I believe that i2p is far more private than Tor (although not widely popular than Tor), which could prove to be highly beneficial to the Bitcoin Blockchain. I'm testing several networks such as Tor, i2p, ZeroNet, and FreeNet as I've become more inclined towards supporting and using hidden services.

Now, I wonder how viable it would be to run that BTC full node with i2p on a Raspberry Pi. While it's no secret that the Raspberry Pi has low technical specs, it might run the i2p BTC full node fine with an external hard drive, limiting max connections to 2, and setting the dbcache to the lowest value possible.

Nonetheless, setting Bitcoin full nodes on alternative networks is great for one's education. Wink

Got it. Thank you very much for this wonderful resource, mate. Each day I discover something new about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Knowing that a BTC full node is not limited to the Tor network is great, as it helps expand one's knowledge. I'm all into supporting the BTC network in any way I can, for the benefit of its decentralization. Smiley
